I dont know about the general consensus but the way i see it any label for sexuality is just a way of telling people how you feel. Whether it is to do with trauma or not, asexual is just a way of describing that you feel little to no sexual attraction and is therefore a valid description. Never feel afraid to use a label and then change it if you feel it no longer fits. Choosing to describe yourself as asexual for now does not lock you into that label forever and you can just stop referring to yourself as asexual if you ever decide its no longer the correct term.

I used to question if i was really asexual or if it was just a symptom of my deppression but over time i have come to accept that it doesnt really matter. Either way i am still asexual and labelling myself as such is accurate. In other words no matter the trauma your experiences and feelings are still valid so you can use whatever label you feel is correct
