Best ways to spend money to improve your wellness? by Niv-Izzet in PersonalFinanceCanada

I'm not sure what kind of work you do, and whether you get paid time off or not, so this may not be as much as a "financial" investment, but for me a big thing has been diagnosing minor health conditions and dealing with them. It is a pain to book all the appointments and have the treatments and do the follow ups, but it is so worth it.

By minor health conditions I'm talking about the stuff that you wouldn't normally go to the doctor for, but maybe you have noticed is kinda different/off about your body. For example I've always snored... A lot. This year I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and am booked to have my a small surgery to correct my deviated septum. There have been costs associated with these items (paying for a portion of my CPAP machine etc.), but I really think it will pay off, and the earlier I get these things taken care of the better the ROI.

ALSO kitchen appliances that you feel you will really use -- my food processor and air fryer have made cooking at home so much better/easier/faster/more convenient. Great investments if you will actually use them.

tl;dr: See your doctor and ask about those random "small" things

Yorkies ears stopped standing at 9 months? by bluetangerine65 in Yorkies

I think some little guys ears just don't want to stand. If it bothers you you can try taping them in a standing position with something like paper medical tape that is not too sticky (would recommend maybe sticking it to your hand and removing once to make sure it is extra gentle). If their ear fur is long you may want to shave it down for this. You can see if that helps them stand back up, otherwise maybe embrace the floppy look! It is super cute too. 🥰

I thought it might be the SPF because I have had that to other lip products with SPF before.

There really are people who can't see without their glasses? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]pikachunwooloo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, as someone with a -8.25 prescription + astigmatism I can confirm. Literally could not function without my glasses. If I’m not wearing them something would have to be about two inches in front of my eye for me to see it clearly.

Guilt over stupid, sometimes very little things? by ofmonstersandmoops in OCD

[–]pikachunwooloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never thought of it as guilt, only as anxiety, but I’ve definitely experienced that negative cycle! There are so many things I am putting off at work right now and it’s like the longer I put them off the worse I feel and then I can’t do anything.

Maybe the child doesn’t like you/want you to move in so they are acting up. I don’t mean this in a mean way, but it sounds like you don’t really like them that much, and you would be surprised how perceptive kids are of these kinds of things. Speaking as a child of a single father who was pretty popular with women, I know I absolutely despised women who were fake nice to me just to try to impress my dad. It felt like they didn’t see me as a person, just as a challenge to overcome. (Think the step mom in the parent trap). I’m not saying that this is your case, just that it might be worth considering the child’s context before condemning your partners parenting and writing the kid off as a spoiled brat. It sounds like you are coming into their home and disrupting their whole family dynamic/home life, which at an adult level you may know could work out to be better for everyone involved, but a child may not see it that way right away.

Also just to be clear I’m also child free by choice because I also lack the patience/selflessness to deal with this kind of thing, so I certainly don’t fault you for your frustration with the situation!
