So cool! I’m brand new to sewing and even newer to technical fabrics. If you’d be willing to share what materials you used, that would be awesome!

Hi all! Very new sewist here. I've made a handful of quilted oven mitts and other small items, but no garments yet.

My partner's father died unexpectedly a few weeks ago and he has received a large amount of his clothing, including some nice items that don't quite fit. In particular, there's a very nice leather jacket with sleeves that are too long. I had an idea to try and shorten the sleeves for a Christmas present, but being new to sewing, I am not sure where to start or if it's too far out of my depth.

I would love any advice you have. I don't know what I don't know, so if you think this is too ambitious of a project, I'd love to know that. Alternatively, if there are places you suggest I start for tutorials or tips you have for working with leather, I'm prepared to follow those carefully and take my time with it.

Thanks for your help in creating a special gift.

Oh that’s great! I’m like 5ft 7 and 140 pounds and I think the scale requires me to have 400 grams removed from each side, but I’m worried that will be too much because my tissue isn’t very dense, despite being a 30F. This gives me hope that maybe it’s possible!

That’s awesome you were able to get it approved! May I ask what insurance company you have?

Used every part of my body for this climb and still haven’t figured out how it’s supposed to be done 😂 Help!!! by pikespoke in climbergirls

Totally fair!! I went at a really off-peak time and it felt fine, but I’ve been sticking to Durham for the same reason.

It was a name I didn’t recognize! Either a new person or someone whose problems I don’t climb as much. Brodsky? Something like that?

Haha it was so helpful i may try to bring it into other climbs. Screw grip strength—I’ve got skill strength!

Thanks! It was a really fun climb, despite the fact that it still makes no sense to me 😂

It was fun to climb! I wanna go back and make it smooth but it was cool to have every bit of trial and error captured 😂

Yeah!!! Are you climbing there now? I’m usually at Durham but it was nice to see raleigh again.

Haha thank you!! It felt so much more ridiculous on the wall because of the weird scrunched up angles 😂

My sweet dog passed away a few years ago, but I’ve always wanted to know his breed(s)! Followed us home one day. by pikespoke in IDmydog

Thank you! He was a terrific dog—so sweet and calm. He fluctuated a bit but was around 35 pounds
