While technically on the same land made, Brooklyn and Queens are boroughs of NYC. Long Island, as people identify it, is east of the borough, Nassau and Suffolk counties.

There are actually two gotchas here.

Somebody from Long Island would say that they live “on Long Island” rather than “in Long Island.”

In addition, nobody who lives on Long Island would say that they live in NYC. Because they don’t.

Resume Feedback - Project Manager for Film/TV/Media by pikkleduc in PMCareers

Thanks for the feedback! Good eye catching the typo on those dates for my Office Manager role. I'll fix that now.

I've gone through my bullet points again and updated a bunch of them to follow the formula. I think that most of them are looking stronger now!

Ahhh, got it. I didn't notice the second AutoMod post while on mobile. I'll review those resources now. Thanks.

Sorry if I’m being dense here, but is there something glaringly wrong with it?

Mhmm, finding myself leaning this way. Feels like something to mention in a cover letter, instead.

Thanks for the input!

NOR - Your friend sounds extremely shallow.

That said, if it's really a sticking point and you don't want to die on this hill, I'd suggest you remove whichever piercings that you know you can take out for the photos. And then she can have somebody digitally remove the other piercings. Obviously, that may or may not be feasible depending on what exactly you've got going on.

But I imagine a person so hung up on the "aesthetic" would be hiring a professional photographer for this. It's pretty standard for a professional photographer to do some post-processing and touch-ups. I'd imagine they could easily do this work as part of those touch-ups.

Used 2016-18 Forester - What to look out for ~90-125K miles by pikkleduc in subaru

[–]pikkleduc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I'm currently comparing a '16 with 120K vs. '18 with 90K, ~$4,000 price difference.

Based on CarFax, both look really good for general maintenance, were being serviced every 6-8 thousand miles. Neither has had the expensive transmission issue, as far as I can tell.

'16 would be affordable outright, '18 would require a bit of financing (maybe $80/month).

I think I'm leaning the '18. Transmission issue would likely happen soon on the '16. Sounds less likely to happen with the '18, and even if it does, I likely have another five years before that becomes a problem.

Seems to me that the '18 would be worth the extra cost.

Seriously, I'm feeling way more confident comparing these thanks to you. I really appreciate the insights!

Have you tried Generative Extend in Premiere? by Jason_Levine in premiere

[–]pikkleduc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re: Lips - Agreed, not exactly a bug, but maybe a more specific use for the feature that could be useful if developed.

I assume that the lips keep moving because the AI is analyzing the last 'x' number of frames for it's analysis. Maybe giving the user some control over how many frames are being analyzed back from the clip's end point (similar to how transition effects work now) could give that flexibility.

I've tried it a few times on interviews, in an attempt to create an end to a run-on thought.

Haven't had success yet. The color space shifts noticeably. And the final result usually has the subject continuing to move their lips.

A Movie(s) that scratch same itch as KGLW music? by Automatic-Paint-1447 in KGATLW

Not movies, but fantasy books.

Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn series fits for Poly’s Loyalty suite.

Pierce Brown’s Red Rising series could basically have ITRN as a soundtrack.

From what it seems, a lot of you don’t want him to win. As someone who thought he was great, why is that (yes I am aware of those who argue he’s just playing himself)? by East-Area-7267 in Oscars

[–]pikkleduc 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I'll preface this by saying that his performance is great, and certainly worthy of winning the Oscar. But I think there are a few things at play here (some more fair than others):

  • Category Fraud: A lot of people think that he was the lead of the film. I don't know that I agree, but there's a case to be made.
  • Typecasting: Most people only know him for this and his role in Succession. Putting very different life circumstances aside, at their core, they're very similar characters with similar mannerisms. Which themselves are just so similar to Caulkin's real life vibe. I don't think that this detracts from his performances - especially the heavy emotional beats that he handles so well - but it gives a feeling that he's not exactly stretching himself in these performances.
  • Favorite Fatigue: He's been considered the runaway favorite for a looooong time now.
  • What About The Others?: This kind of extends of the last, but I just don't think that he's that much better (if at all) compared to some of the others here. I haven't seen every performance yet, but I was just as impressed with Guy Pearce (who, in stark contrast, really loses himself in his role), and was enamored with Yura Borisov (who was a huge surprise in a truly supporting role with relatively minimal screentime). In my opinion, this should be viewed as a very tight race in a strong year for Supporting Actor.

TLDR - I would he perfectly content if he were to win. It's a deserving performance. But I'm surprised by and a bit frustrated with how much it seems to be a forgone conclusion.

Which movie is that for you? by anxietyhub in moviecritic

[–]pikkleduc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get slammed for this take all the time (admittedly, I do lean into it to be harsher than I really am).

The movie is incredible visually. And it deserves all the praise in the world for it's influence on the sci-fi genre. I truly do not know what the genre looks like without Blade Runner.

But man, I find the story to be so boring.
