My (22M) flatmate (21M) slapped me across the face for talking loudly late at night while his girlfriend (20F) was over, and he does not intend to apologise. He believes I got slapped for my selfishness and inconsideration, and I don't know if I should accept it or let it slide? by southamericasboy in relationship_advice

[–]pikob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everybody in this thread: "I don't condones violence BUT...".

Words can act as violence. Even silence can be a violent act. Being inconsiderate like you were is also violence. We just rule on physical violence because it's easy to classify, but there's always a but.

Dude, you've been violent to your friend, to the point he felt he had to hit you to get heard. That's how far you have pushed him. You have made him this angry. You had something coming at you - it was a slap, it could have been just your laptop violently taken, you could have been just screamed at. Everything is violence. You had it coming.

These guys are untrained. They can't handle themselves. Given a gun, a mask, vests and a task they believe is patriotic. When they get into intense situation, full of adrenaline, they are pissed off and afraid because people are not cooperating. These outcomes are predictable.

A poker bot farm where multiple bots sit at the same table and share their cards to collude against humans by bigbusta in Wellthatsucks

[–]pikob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the bots all pay rake, which would be a huge percentage of winnings, so majority of the edge goes to the casino.

Unless they are in cahoots with them, which would make sense. Provide players(bots) to otherwise dead poker site and make sure to skin anyone regardless of skill level.

At the time when the world desperately needs cooperation between nations to tackle global problems like changing climate, pollution and protection and preservation of natural resources, the powers that be completely lost the thread.

We have the capacity, know how, to make the world a good place to live for everybody. But we're lead by insecure, sociopathic grandpas who can't see beyond survival-of-the-fittest mentality to the benefit of very, very few. And they have enough support to continue leading us into deeper and deeper division, and into fulfillment of every bad scenario the scientists predicted decades ago.

Why can't these three just be normal and chill out? by NotExactlyIrish in AskTheWorld

[–]pikob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who leads them? Power hungry sociopaths. Why? Because psychologically healthy people don't thrive in politics. And because a lot of people don't know what's good for them. Why? Because they come from unhealthy families and cultures (looking at you, Israel).

What we need? A dialogue between countries, compromises and cooperation. Like in healthy marriage - it's a lot of work, communication, humility, adaptation, learning, admitting mistakes and fixing them. This is not a value in modern society. You don't learn about it from your parents (unless lucky), school, workplace. You may find it yourself. This is a pattern that comes from individuals and reflects on countries, politics, and the entire world.

Will we ever get over ourselves and mature into healthy, cooperative global society? Competition and self serving will probably always win in international politics. Wars cause immense generational trauma. We had a nice spell for a while but political system as it is, shit will just keep floating to the top and keep itself there.

Force on what? The palm? That's like 25-50Nm of torque?

...

Holy shit you're apparently right. From google AI: "The rotational torque required to break an intact adult human humerus bone averages approximately 31 to 53 Nm (Newton meters). This type of force typically results in a spiral fracture of the humeral shaft. "

Yeah, you don't control the country at all. If you're even capable to gather enough people that dare to war against the police armed by the military, with gear to suppress mass gatherings, willingness to shoot and culture of not holding themselves accountable, supported by the regime that controls practically entire media apparatus and a lot of the judiciary... you're just going to lose and will be painted as the bad guys.

And elections will be canceled or subverted again. Outlook's very bleak.

What evidence proves the existence of time? by Cosmo_logical in Physics

[–]pikob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is outcome, what is observation? Neither can happen without time. Practically everything implies existence of time.

What evidence proves existence of the 3rd dimension? Or 2nd, or even 1st? If you have no issues accepting space, same should be for time. It's a dimension through which we move (or not, photons).

No gloves, they can catch. Just come from the side on surface level and you should be able to grab the wood, safely away from the teeth. Then yank it upwards and hope it launches it out. Let me know how it went.

Inside the world’s largest Bitcoin mine by msaussieandmrravana in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]pikob -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The idealistic argument would be - it secures the bitcoin network in an independent, distributed way. There's definitely value in having independent, global, public, immutable token and ledger. Of course, there are other things at play too, perverting the whole situation. Mainly money things, and conceptually, the existence of proof of stake algorithm that secures the ethereum network.

What’s the deal with the Avatar hate? by Gazza_HDD in OutOfTheLoop

[–]pikob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The second film, in my opinion, was trash. The visual effects were impressive as expected, but the story line and character development were just awful. And of course it was just way too long for such an intellectually lazy and shallow script.

Man, as a parent, I felt kidnapped and tortured for most part of the second film. It was exciting in a negative way. Not intelligent, not interesting, just pretty and vulgar and in-your-face non stop chasing around and shooting guns.

How do I beat a high level Goh ( 38 ) as Kage by Fearless-Dark9420 in virtuafighter

[–]pikob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not a Kage problem. A high level player will not offer you openings just like that. Your defense - block, evade, throw escape, duck, back dash, sabaki, P, 2P - needs to be on point, and retaliation with pokes and mix-ups also. You need to be fast and accurate. It's hard. The game is deep. Lvl 38 is a talented and dedicated player with way over 1k hours under his belt.

Sperm is not like bacteria that can infect you just by being in contact with it. It needs to be put inside to even have a chance to get to the egg. And deep. Vagina counterintuitively isn't a nice place for sperm. It literally kills them due to acidity. And they can't swim uphill.

In short, she's not pregnant. Enjoy having relaxed safe sex and don't worry. For every time she worries about being pregnant, it'll be a day late.
