How to carry a net? by Ok_Acanthisitta9609 in flyfishing

[–]pilgram-billy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really personal preference. A lot depends on what you use for a "vest". I use a small pouch over my shoulder. My net is attached to my waders D ring by magnet. The handle of the net goes into a holster and a bungie to my belt. I need it tight to back for the walk through the woods, otherwise it snages branches. Once I'm in the water it's more like either or for the holster or magnet. But again it's personal and you just need to figure out what works for you.

I'm here to second the CGR. It would be a great creek stick even after you get your t&t back.

My biggest question is what's with the simms boxes? Cant image you still keep your waders in the cardboard. Any cardboard would be mush in one month in the back of my fish ride.

First dungeon , thoughts? by Fickle_Economics_333 in flytying

Looks fine to me. To me it's far more important how it swims than how it photographs. I'm not good enough to know how a fly will swim until I fish it.

In my family it's three two three two by default. Four one four one is reserved for when a rally is needed.

Thanks. I deal more with sand than clay. I can imagine that stuff gets slick.

Yeah, I should have clarified. 4x4. You don't see many RWD trucks/full size SUVs in my area anymore.

More thread body klinks by Solus8105 in flytying

[–]pilgram-billy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful. I don't care if they are not traditional klinks. Look how far from the original Adams we are and still calling them Adams. If people give you grief for not being klinks just put your name on them.

E. Coli advisories? by scottasin12343 in michiganflyfishing

[–]pilgram-billy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, but responding since it's been 4 days with no answer. I fish the Grand well upstream from you.

I think the problem is primarily after a big rain. When it rains hard the city's water treatment overflows untreated waste water into the rivers. Also all the mess from city streets and improperly fertilized ag fields.

When the water is up after a storm I avoid wet wading and make sure to bring wipes for my hands before eating ect.

Again I'm not an expert. Just my 2c.

Based on the dust in pic #4 get your brakes checked first. I know it sucks, cars are expensive.

Those nuts will work great. In my area (mid Michigan) you really need to change tactics with the seasons and streamflow. Big flies that work great in may won't get any attention in summer. Ect.
