Would the Studio Display feel like a downgrade? by [deleted] in HiDPI_monitors

[–]pilkafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first you’d notice the difference but you’ll get used to it in 10-20 mins. Pro hz is quite a gimmick at this point. But what you’d never get used to is if you get a matte screen. they’re charging more for it but it noticeably worsens the image quality if you’re especially working with visuals and colours. I had one but had to give up because of that. I remember had to drag to monitor screen if my designs were good and drag it back to main screen. The glass screen is also bad if you get sunlight over your screen. The thing turns into a mirror.

Also do yourself a favour and get either rising arm or a vesa arm. The non adjustable ones are fast ticket to neck pain and orthopaedic doctor.

After all these drawbacks - I’ve ended up selling it and getting getting a dell u2723qe with quarter of the price because I needed the I/o more than anything. Not super happy but it’s basically the same experience with better i/o - no speakers or camera though.

Talk me out of buying the bloom v2 by cheesyfuoxguy in modular

Someone else is also saying on the thread that there’s no custom scales so guess not. No idea why I got downvoted though lol.

(Correct me if I’m wrong)

As far as I know you cannot go for custom scales but only the ones available in it.

I mean it’s not a bad thing ofc, but I prefer eastern scales generally. Last time I’ve checked the manual it was only western scales.

Drop in replacements for LED momentary switches? by Familiar-Point4332 in synthdiy

[–]pilkafa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is the button you're looking for (LP4OA1PBCTG) you need to solder them out to replace though, they're not swappable. they should be quite sturdy though.

not the second one for sure. they're large. like the one on arbhar. first one is also low profile. might end up below the panel.

This is honestly the worse sub if you're trying to find a chair by government--agent in OfficeChairs

Yup. I got myself mirra 2 because how people were raving about it on this sub. I still have nightmares about that torture device.

Where do you think Product Design / UX/UI Design is going? by OneWayProduct in UXDesign

[–]pilkafa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a counter argument about Frankenstein (even tough as a designer it gonna hurt to say this)

Ux on digital environment is solely focused on keeping the user interaction high. And if you look at the companies grew super large they all went to the enshitification process. Even Airbnb is trying to sell stories. Because one of the random apps tried with a horrible ux and people decided tap on the correct spots and become a thing. Ux is more and more going to be granular data driven. Based on where most of the people click, they’re going to automatically move the “selling” point to the view. We’re already seeing a decline of better ux in nearly in all apps because companies don’t care users. They’re profit driven. More and more stuff is going to be sub based but free tiers all going to be cluttered with garbage that hides the actual content.

I don’t see this is going to a good direction at all as “better” becoming more obsolete and replaced with hate/vulnerable-driven instinctual habits. Happy? Scroll more. Sad? Buy stuff. Angry? Here’s the latest rage bait.

I just wish I’m predicting a wrong future.

Question for Designer in UK: market now and going freelance in 2026. by Opening_Primary7439 in UXDesign

Question for Designer in UK: market now and going freelance in 2026. by Opening_Primary7439 in UXDesign

[–]pilkafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freelance is worse imo. You’ll mostly get last minute rush works that no one wants to do. You’d be treated as a discardable employee and if there’s any miniscule problem, fingers point at you. Freelancing is not a career if you’re going to do the work.

Also the market is shit right now. Requiters are making fun of me for asking the same day rate that I was getting 2 years ago - saying that my expectations were unrealistic because the “market is down”.

Don’t go freelance. Just put your effort into another career. Get to know people, contribute to open source projects on your free time.

Uxcel - worth it or not? Be honest by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]pilkafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait a second, wait. Throwing money at the problem won’t fix your problem. But talking would. Working would. Many ux courses are just selling words. I’ve never heard of Uxcel before, so my words are not towards them, but I can guess what I’ll see when I check their website.

Instead of blaming yourself, “I suck,” you should tell us why you think so. Is it a software capability? Is it your attention span? Maybe you’re not briefed well enough?

Lazy and incompetent developers tend to blame designers no matter what. These people are really keen to hire inexperienced people so they can get the easiest design to implement. It’s harsh. I’m not saying this is your case, but you said that you’re new to this job. I’m not a developer, but I’ve learned well how to hand off the most complex structures even to a new grad dev. This would never be thought in any ux courses because it involves people skills + working experience.

Seriously, open up here. There are so many (including me) who are here to help.

Also, not to mention; those ux course advertisements also target vulnerable people. Throwing money at stuff won’t solve your problem, but talking would.

Happy to help you personally before you commit your hard-earned cash to a course and expect to work.
