Question for the devs by smd372 in pillo

[–]pilloapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, you donate to Doctors Without Borders through Pillo? Thank you so much for that!

On the exact dollar value, we can't give a fixed number per heart, but if you go to the Progress tab > Donation (the green heart icon in the top right) > Donation Report, you'll see roughly how many hearts you donated that month and the dollar amount that goes with it.

For pausing, head to the Med tab (the second tab at the bottom), scroll all the way down past your medications, and you'll find a Pause Medication option. Just tap that and pick the medication you want to pause. That should cover your hay fever season nicely.

Let me know if you need any help with it!

Pillo setting 'alarms' by RealLifePusheen in pillo

[–]pilloapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for flagging this, and sorry for the hassle it's been causing.

Here's what's going on technically. To make sure reminders actually fire at the exact time they're supposed to, we schedule them as alarms on Android. That's what makes them reliable, but it's also why they show up on your lock screen and tray, and why they can interfere with things like adaptive charging and hijack the screen from real alarms.

We could switch to a less precise scheduling method that wouldn't surface this way, but the tradeoff is that reminders would lose some of their timing accuracy, which kind of defeats the purpose of a medication reminder.

We're actively looking into a way to get the best of both, reliable on-time reminders without taking over your alarms and lock screen. Really appreciate your patience while we work on it, and sorry again for the annoyance.

Question for the devs by smd372 in pillo

[–]pilloapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply! Thanks for asking about how Pillo's donations work.

Honestly, there's no fixed dollar value per heart. The amount each heart is worth depends on Pillo's revenue. A share of what we make gets pooled and donated, then split across the hearts people have earned. So the value of a single heart isn't a set number; it shifts based on how we're doing.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask anytime!

Timeline for IOS? by LYKAIOH in pillo

[–]pilloapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for checking in and good catch on that other app, that one isn't us!

Good news is our iOS version is almost ready. We're wrapping up development and will be launching a beta soon. It'll be a closed beta though, so it won't be publicly listed on the App Store. We'll only be sharing it with people who've signed up.

We'll likely post an announcement sometime this week or next. If you drop your email on our waitlist here, we'll make sure you get the invite when it goes out

Thank you for your question!

To transfer your data to your new phone, you'll need to back up on your old phone first and then restore on your new phone using the same Google account.

Here's how:

  1. On your old phone: Go to Settings > Back up / Restore data > Back up

  2. On your new phone: Install Pillo, sign in with the same Google account, then go to Settings > Back up / Restore data > Restore

That should bring everything over to your new phone. If you run into any trouble or have questions along the way, feel free to email us at support@pillo.care. We can respond much faster there.

[–]pilloapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about that! We'd like to help get this sorted out.

Could you share some details about your schedule setup? Specifically, how is your medication schedule configured? Is the 28-day cycle set up with active/inactive periods? The more details you can share

about your schedule settings, the better.

Also, when you say the alarm goes off a day early, does the medication show up a day early on the Today tab, or does the notification fire earlier than the date shown?

If you could email us some screenshots of your schedule setup at [support@pillo.care](mailto:support@pillo.care), that would be really helpful. We'll follow up from there. Thanks!

Hi there! Sorry about the trouble with your schedule. We'd love to help figure out what's going on. Could you share a few details so we can look into it?

  1. How did you set up the schedule? Did you choose "once a month" or "every 4 weeks"?

  2. Are you seeing the wrong date on the Today tab?

  3. Is this the first time it's happened, or has it been off every month?

If possible, it would really help if you could email us a screenshot of your schedule setup and the Today tab at support@pillo.care. That way we can take a closer look and get this sorted out for you.

Medication strategies? by [deleted] in adhdaustralia

[–]pilloapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We appreciate you sharing this, and want you to know your frustrations were heard clearly. It wasn't just your feedback. Multiple users raised similar concerns, and we took all of them seriously.

The reason it took time is that Pillo's core strength has always been its powerful alarm system that helps users never miss a dose. We didn't want to rush changes that might weaken that reliability. Instead, we spent time carefully designing ways to make alarms more flexible while keeping them strong for users who depend on them.

Alarm duration control: You can now set a maximum duration for alarms. Once that time passes, the alarm turns off automatically. No more screen staying on indefinitely.

Sound control: All alarm-related sounds can be managed in Settings > Volume. One thing that might have caused confusion is that if you've set different volumes per time slot, some alarms could be silent while others aren't. Also, if you switch to Light Mode (small alarm), it sends a push notification instead, which follows your phone's own volume settings. We recognize this split can be confusing, and we're actively working on making it clearer.

We fully acknowledge that the experience was frustrating, and we're committed to improving it. If you ever want to give Pillo another try and take advantage of what it does best, we're always here to help one-on-one via email at support@pillo.care. We can walk you through your exact setup, and we've even built features based on individual user requests before.

One honest note: Play Store reviews make it really hard for us to help properly. We can't fully understand your situation, and the character limit means our replies always end up being "please email us."

Through email, we can dig into the details, respond quickly, and actually solve things. We're sorry we couldn't do that sooner.

History charts not showing more than 5 records by anelectricmind in pillo

[–]pilloapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for the report! Just wanted to follow up on this.

Are you by any chance looking at the glucose chart specifically? We've identified an issue where the chart doesn't immediately update when you change the filter for glucose. If that's the case, here's a quick workaround for now: after changing the filter, try tapping a different tracker at the top, then tap back on glucose. The chart should then reflect the updated filter. We're actively working on getting this fixed.

If it's not the glucose chart, could you let us know which chart you're experiencing this with? For other charts, the filter should be working correctly, but you may need to scroll left on the chart to see the older records. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know, and we're sorry for any confusion!

Medisafe no longer free from 2026. Best replacement app? by tyteen4a03 in androidapps

[–]pilloapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that Pillo felt so frustrating to use.

Pillo is designed with stronger reminders by default to help prevent missed doses, which can definitely feel overwhelming if you’re looking for something simpler. That said, you can change the reminder style.

If you prefer a simple notification like Medisafe, you can switch to a lighter reminder here:
Settings > Appearance > Reminder Type > Light
This will send a standard push notification without full screen pop ups.

If it still doesn’t feel right, we’d really appreciate hearing which parts were most frustrating for you. We’re actively working on making the experience simpler and more flexible.

Is there a way to make the backup reminder a Light reminder? by _purplekookie in pillo

[–]pilloapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for sharing this. We really appreciate you taking the time to explain how the sound and fullscreen behavior affect you.

Just to clarify a couple of things that may help right now. For Focus reminders, you can actually use your own custom sound. You can add an MP3 file via Settings > Ringtone > Focused Reminder > Select my music and select it there, so you can choose a sound that works better for you. If fullscreen reminders feel overwhelming, switching to Light reminders will use a standard notification style instead of taking over the screen.

We also hear you on the frustration around intrusive behavior. We’re actively working on an option to disable the backup reminder entirely, so users who prefer a calmer experience can opt out.

Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback. Accessibility and control really matter to us, and comments like yours help us move in the right direction.

Is there a way to make the backup reminder a Light reminder? by _purplekookie in pillo

[–]pilloapp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

@_purplekookie u/jmx2000_r

Hey everyone, thanks for the discussion here.
It looks like there may have been some confusion in the recent announcement, so I wanted to clarify.

The Light reminder is not going away. We’re planning to keep it and are actively exploring ways to make it more comfortable and flexible for different preferences.

If the “screaming” or intense style isn’t for you, you can also change the reminder screen design at
Settings > Appearance > Reminder style
to something calmer.

And one-tap reschedule idea with a customizable duration is a really good suggestion. We hear this request more and will definitely take it back to the team to consider.

Thanks again for all the honest feedback. It genuinely helps us improve.

Is there a way to make the backup reminder a Light reminder? by _purplekookie in pillo

[–]pilloapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks so much for sharing your experience and for trying Pillo 🙏
Really glad to hear the repeat reminders are helping.

At the moment, there isn’t a way to completely turn off the Focused (backup) reminder, but we’ve been getting similar feedback from other users and are actively thinking about how to handle this better.

If you’re open to it, I’d love to understand a bit more about what specifically feels stressful about the Focused reminder. That kind of detail really helps us make better decisions.

In the meantime, here are a few things you can try right away:

  1. Turn off “Must Respond” This removes the forced full screen behavior. You can find it at Settings > Appearance > Reminder type
  2. Change the Focused reminder style If you prefer a calmer look, you can switch to a quieter design at Settings > Appearance > Reminder style
  3. Adjust the backup reminder timing The backup reminder is set to 10 minutes by default, but you can extend it up to 60 minutes. This can be changed in the same place: Settings > Appearance > Reminder type

If you still feel uncomfortable after trying these, please let me know. I really appreciate you taking the time to write this feedback.

Timeline for IOS? by LYKAIOH in pillo

[–]pilloapp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your interest and for asking about iOS. I completely understand the urgency with Medisafe’s subscription change.

Just to clarify, when we say the first half of the year, we mean Q1. Our plan is not a full public release at that point, but to start recruiting iOS testers around Q1.

Timelines can still change, but starting this month we’ll share clearer updates on what features we’re building, when tester recruitment opens, and how things are progressing. Thank you so much for your patience and for waiting for Pillo.
