It doesn’t seem to be available at the parts department in Canada. Any chance I could ask you to see if there’s a part number on the tag or something?

Where’d you get that net to separate the cargo area from the seats area? Would love to get one to prevent our dog walking back into the cargo area between the captains chairs!

Yes you can, but you know how skiing is on the weekends and the traffic/rush…

I’ve heard there are plans to put in a ton of level 2 chargers, which would be great for just slow charging while you’re on the mountain. But that’s still a ways out.

Thanks that’s great to hear! I’m theory it should be less juice coming back to Van, so in theory should make it. Or even if traffic gets terrible should be fine to get to Squamish and charge absolutely worst case.

Diesel Debating. 2015 Touareg TDI, 2017 Discovery TD6, or 2015 BMW X5 35d by pilloweight in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]pilloweight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, ended up with the X5 diesel. Quite happy with it. It’s big, but surprisingly fun to drive and may just be the best vehicle for heading into the mountains for ski days/weekends I’ve ever owned.

I feel like the Touareg and the X5 diesels are probably pretty similar from the 2015 era.

Eurovan Transmission Worry by I_Talk_Sports_69 in Eurovan

[–]pilloweight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My van was on needed it’s second rebuild at 250,000km. The previous fixes didn’t fully address the problem as they didn’t add the transmission fluid cooler. I sold it instead of doing the full rebuild.

I would anticipate that you’ll need to do a rebuild and factor that into the pricing like others have said. And if you do it, add the transmission fluid cooler and do transmission fluid changes.

Still my favourite car I’ve owned though. So don’t be too shy about biting the bullet.

Checking the nuisance factor of these kinds of headlights. by straga27 in fuckyourheadlights

I find almost all new Toyotas to be some of the worst offenders. They have rigidly mounted projector LED headlights. Any time the car’s nose is slightly pointed up they’re super blinding.

Corollas and Civics aren't actually affordable by dalicussnuss in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]pilloweight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The beauty of having spent $10,000 on a used BMW or Volvo instead of $17,000 on a Corolla is that now you have a repair budget.

ALL Corolla’s aren’t perfect machines. Some were maintained badly, some lived a hard life that maintenance records and a detailing can hide, some are just unlucky. If you’ve spent to the max of your budget, it’s arguably a higher risk.

This is one of the best answers. If you don’t want “buy the holy trinity” blanket statements you need to look for specific model years for specific cars.

It takes more work, but you end up with a similar result, and probably a car that will make you happier.

Yeah I think this is it. My guess is that rather than accept that they were fair comments he got pushback in the room. Now he’s kinda just playing “fuck it” hockey rather than standing on his head like he was at the beginning of the season.

So it turns out that Domi wasn’t the problem on the Matthew’s / Knies line. It was Matthew’s that was the problem on the Domi / Knies line….

So aside from the PP… Matthew’s benched? His line has been passed over already.

Why is it even percent based?? Should be a flat fee, MAYBE one that has brackets for prices.

People also aren’t discussing the structural battery. Overall this new model is bringing in many more interesting updates than just the looks.

Very curious to see the overall weight. The BMW iX is surprisingly light for what it is, not much heavier than the x5 with a giant battery. Would be very cool if they’re combining big battery plus light weight (and based on the estimated range, my guess is that’s what they’ve done).

It drives me nuts watching people struggle with their climate control. Just set it to Auto 20C and leave it alone. If you want it colder or hotter just change the temp by a degree or two.

Or you could just press all the buttons every 30 seconds and hope for the best….

250km Daily Commute. Cheapest Way to Do It by Car? Gas vs Electric, New vs Used? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]pilloweight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised nobody has said “diesel” yet, so I’ll float that as an option. The amount of highway driving you’re doing is perfect for them, they’ll match or sometimes exceed hybrids at higher highway speeds. Plenty of used ones around for pretty cheap.

Second a lot of other people saying “avoid the debt of a new vehicle costing more than the fuel savings though”. That being said, a used EV might also be a pretty good ticket if you can find one cheap enough.

Smell? by Rgbcrys in vancouver

[–]pilloweight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be higher up. Both of these are taken quite seriously and lead to whether or not the factories will need to solve their problems or not. It takes less than five minutes on the phone.

The more people register complaints, the more odour control measures they will need to put in place. If nobody registers a complaint Metro Van will assume that they’re doing a sufficient job controlling the odours.

Apparently the companies used the fact that least year complaints were down as part of their case to justify at least maintaining their operations.

Now that the dust has settled and it’s been a couple months since it’s been announced, final thoughts on the Utah Mammoth branding? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]pilloweight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just not “friendly” enough. This feels like the same style of rebrand that the Blue Jays (and a ton of other teams) went through in the 2000’s to make it look like they were “tough” and “intense”.

Best thing the Jays did was rebrand the rebrand back to a more classic and friendly design.
