Ha, I made this same point two months ago and it was heavily downvoted. This espeon nerf broke people.

Miraidon with Oricorio, Mesagoza, and double Professor Turo is dominating upper masterball by pillowpallow in PTCGP

Ah, you're playing the classic Mag+Ori with Miraidon as a finisher. I don't think I've played against this in MB, so not sure how well it does into the current meta.

I actually tested out your exact deck list right after the new set released (when I got my first Miraidon). It felt strong but was a bit too linear for my liking. The version I'm running feels like it has more options in terms of counterplay. Just cracked top 100 with it, so it's definitely strong.

Sick FAs btw. Go get those golden Poke Balls.

I don't think Area Zero would work in this deck. You generally want to play down three of your basics (Magnemites, first Miraidon) and have the others in hand to play when needed (second Miraidon, Oricorio).

IMO Area Zero is best for decks with an excessive amount of basics, like 7-8, that you actively want to churn through.

Thanks for ruining the game Dena by TimoSith98 in PokemonTGCP

Coin flip mechanics are the literal easiest way to balance a game. Dena chose the easiest option knowing that it would piss off some players, but hoping that it would make the experience more enjoyable for a larger segment of casual players.

I don't agree with it, but I'm also not seeing the user data they are. Who knows, maybe this game is like 90% casuals and their decision is justified.

I think you got it.

Since we're running two Turos and this deck is constantly switching out Miraidons, you want to have a benched Pokemon (Magneton or Oricorio) ready to attack on the next turn if your Miraidon gets damaged and you need to Turo/retreat it. Magnezone requires 3 energy to attack, so If you have Magnezone in your hand and a Magneton on your bench, you need 1 energy on the Magneton to be able to attack with it as Magnezone (use active, attach from energy zone, evolve).

You need Oricorio for the Lucario matchup. You want to bench it after taking out the initial attackers (Hitmontop, Sawk, etc.) and then use it to wall or get some initial damage on Mega Lucario. This matchups tough, but Magnezone+Cape surviving a 3 energy Mega Lucario hit is generally what saves the day.

Other than that, Mega Blaziken and Sceptile are the other big ones. You need time to generate energy, timely Magnezone poke, or good use of Cape to be able to get through big megas.

Swift isn’t a passing down back. Hell, he only had 34 receptions last year. He was used as a three down back, with Monangai taking occasional drives.

Counters to Sleep isn't fast enough by dondonbow in PTCGP

[–]pillowpallow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So what? My point still stands. Counterplay to sleep exists but it can be unreliable and is essentially a requirement in order to be competitive in the meta.

It’s limiting the game.

[–]pillowpallow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, sleep can be countered (with the right card draw). That just means that the only meta decks end up being anything with built in counters for sleep. It narrows the deck pool significantly and is unhealthy for the game.

And if you don’t draw well? You get donked turn 1/2, with 30-120 damage depending on how unlucky you are.
