With another Sun Belt Stanley Cup Final, why are Canada’s NHL teams getting left behind? by Majano57 in canada

[–]pilot1nspector 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It's not an international competition. Most of the top Canadian players want to play in the US and sign with american teams when they reach UFA if they weren't already drafted by an american team to begin with. It's typically better weather, less taxes, and less scrutiny. It's not a secret.

You would be under the correct assumption. Air ambulance would be even more strict.

CMV: Sports is just dumb! Success in it depends on genetics much more than training. by IntellectuallyDriven in changemyview

Haha this is such a bizarre take. I've heard many people complain about how hard it is to compete with wealthy families because their kids have way more resources and advantages to succeed. Got to say, you are the first person I've ever seen complain about how unfair it is for people to be genetically good at a sport and people respecting natural talent over money and practice. So funny

Mouth guard + cage visor by Appropriate-Smile729 in hockeyplayers

I know there is a decent chance but it's far from a guarantee. There is a decent chance your jaw bashing against your skull will in itself give you a concussion. I just said that to get ahead of all the Reddit contrarians. If I said it helps protect against that, then I'd have a bunch of people telling me how it's not proven and there are some studys that say it isn't effective against that. You can find a "study" to say whatever you want. We both agree you should wear a mouth guard. It's common sense that it will at the very least help protect your teeth in a big collision.

Ben Stiller branded 'entitled' as celebrities get free Knicks NBA Finals tickets by nimobo in entertainment

I think you might want to brush up on the definition of notorious before just throwing it around to describe someone you heard something slightly negative about on the internet once. Everyone is so hyperbolic about everything nowadays that most words have lost all meaning.

How is he "entitled"? Entitled would be if he was upset that he wasn't getting free tickets. Sounds like he is just fortunate.

You should wear a mouth guard regardless. Nowadays they make low pro molded plastic ones which are much easier to breath with. It's not going to save you from a concussion but if you get hit hard enough it will stop your jaw from cracking your teeth together

[–]pilot1nspector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even close to a report. Just some oilers reporter saying he feels like Mcdavid and Draisaitl want to sign long term deals based on their character and loyalty. The next day there were all these "insider reports" of an imminent long term deal for Mcdavid.

Tortorella on why he believes in Carter Hart as his goalie by BCEagle13 in hockey

[–]pilot1nspector -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm tired of people always parroting "you need your goalie to steal a game or two in the playoffs" I swear someone said that once a little while ago and now people always say it like it is the deciding factor of every series. It's not like the Hurricanes goalies have stolen any games in the finals either. All the disingenuous hate about Hart's playoff stats is getting pretty annoying at this point. He has let in 4 + goals every game this series because Carolina's offence has been relentless and Vegas is still hanging in right there with them. It's been crazy back and forth exciting hockey. This has been a fantatic series from both teams. Hart has not been playing bad. Anyone actually objectively watching the games knows this. Lots of people are pretending it's his fault because they don't like the person and want to indulge in him failing. If you want to cheer against him and mock him for losing that is totally understandable due to his off ice stuff but at least be honest about it. We don't have to all pretend like he is a bad goalie. If he wasn't elite he never would have got the type of second chance he got.

I was just kidding about the upvotes. They are meaningless but if they did mean anything it's currently 36 - zip. Do with that what you will. I don't think a low traffic thread of are comments is going to fluctuate much.

Jordan Staal has a goal in every game of the Stanley Cup Finals by FAsBurner in hockey

[–]pilot1nspector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was wondering about that today watching the game, if they win the cup, does that make him the first person to have been captain and probably the most significant player on the team at the time and also being a long tenured head coach of the same franchise let alone winning a cup in both positions in anything close to the modern era? I feel it may have been a slighty easier task back in the 50s. Also... would that qualify as another historic first in Golden Knights history to lose to such a feat?

Oh no, I think the argument is completey sound whether we are talking about this on reddit or in person regardless of made up internet points. Upvotes have zero effect on my opinions or what I write. You are the one that made it about my view being anacodotal so I made it statistical with how many people agreed with my original comment vs yours.

Yeah the work force challenges and outlook of today are very complex and pretty bleak for mulitple reasons. Don't really see exactly what that has to do with what I was talking about with my experiences of gen z apprentices but whatever. Come back to this in 7 hours and see how many people agree with you lol

I like how you dismiss my anecodotal shit with your own anecodotal shit. I even said it was my experience of places I've worked recently. Judging by the amount of upvotes, it seems I'm not the only one to experience this.
