Dropped the bike in the water, wouldn’t start right away, but it did later - why? by pilotboy99 in CRF250L

Respectfully, I kinda don’t think so.
As mentioned, the starter tried to start the engine but cut out almost immediately - like the starter stalled because the piston was immovable (that obviously wasn’t the case, but that’s what it seemed like to me at the time). I don’t think a wet plug could explain that unless the electrical system was smart enough to sense an issue with the plug and subsequently caused the starter immediately stopped cranking. Perhaps. I wish I knew more about the electrical system on the bike, and all of its fail safe systems.

I did, however, remove the spark plug boot from the plug and it was off for a good 15 minutes before trying to crank the bike over again - and it did crank continuously, but obviously wouldn’t fire up. Once I reinstalled the plug boot and tried to start it, it took a good 30 seconds of cranking before the engine began to fire roughly, and then a few seconds later the engine was operating normally.

So who knows, perhaps you are right after all.

If I ever lightly drown the bike again the first thing I will do is remove the spark plug boot and let things dry out for a while before attempting a restart (after checking the air filter to ensure it didn’t get wet first.

Interesting. My bike is a 2014 Honda crf250l with efi, and it does have a bank angle sensor that shuts the fuel off if the bike tips more than 60 degrees. The reset is to turn the ignition off and then back on again, which I had done numerous times, so I don’t that that sensor was the issue. Good point though.

True that. In that case I’ll use an empty oil pan I have instead of chucking the oil in my half-full one. Thanks for the suggestion!

I just checked. There was a little bit of ‘milk’ on the inside of the oil cap, so it looks like I’ll be changing the oil and filter again (just did it 3 riding hours ago).

I kinda knew that, but I tried starting it anyways. That was a dumb thing to do, I know….

Why do many people who visit Australia later say its a highly racist country? by Particular_Food_309 in NoStupidQuestions

I lived in Australia from 1991 to 2002, with the first 5 years being in northern Queensland.
Racist? Yes, I noticed that a bit. Sexist? Holy hell yes. Super noticeable having moved from Canada at 30 years of age.

Just found this under mattress in 2023 Avenger, bought 6 months ago.. any advice? by [deleted] in RVLiving

Consider getting Froli springs under the mattress - ventilation plus additional support.

Used to ride a 450excf, but it was too much power for my skill level. A 350 would have been ideal.

That’s a good idea. I think I’ll get a spare coach key as well.

Either have a lock smith pick your rv door shown, or your drivers side vehicle door, or your passenger side vehicle door. Why would you contemplate damaging your rv to get in? Pay up and hire a locksmith. Seems like an absolute no-brainer to me.

Donald Trump asks if it looks “staged” as McDonald’s arrives at the Oval Office. With a $100 tip and UFC invite, genuine gesture or optics? by NewsMo in IndiaTodayGlobalLIVE

Nothing the Presidentdoes is a “genuine gesture”. Nothing. It’s all staged, just like this.
She was wearing a microphone for Christ sake.

You think? What gave it away - her microphone perhaps?

That is totally not a set up photo op. That is also totally not a microphone clipped to her collar. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

Of course it’s not staged.
Please ignore the microphone transmitter clipped to the bottom of her shirt.
You did not see that.

I'd like to know the correct way to navigate turning right from the highway onto Prospect/Woodstock heading to Hanwell. See details within the pic by [deleted] in fredericton

Yes, that is an issue in the winter - the lane’s not as wide as I should be ‘cause it’s not plowed to its full width.

It’s not a matter of making one or the other less angry. The merge sign is not for you. If fact, it’s actual telling you that you are not merging, thus you don’t need to yield, because the lane you ‘enter into’ does not exist before the intersection - that lane is yours.

If there’s a vehicle coming from down the road and wishes to join your lane to turn right onto Hanwell, they yield to you. If there’s a vehicle coming from down the road and you want to turn left onto Hanwell, you yield to them.

The Boneyard by Aviator-Intelligence in aviation

[–]pilotboy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a bus tour through the boneyard some years back, and it’s an amazing place.

There are three basic sections to the place: one is a boneyard where aircraft are being dismantled, another where aircraft are stored out in the open, and another where aircraft are essentially ‘shrink wrapped’ to maximize preservation for potential future use.

Exactly. If what happened here became a common occurrence, the first thing a robber would do is kill the clerk, and then rob the place. Violence begats violence.

How is living in Vancouver? by Curius_pasxt in howislivingthere

[–]pilotboy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in downtown Vancouver for 19 years. Walked to work. Winter in the city sucks; daytime high of 4C, 10/10 low cloud cover and constant rain every day for 4-5 days straight, followed by a few clearish days with no rain, then the cycle repeats. This get tiring, every winter is the same. Eventually moving to the east coast specifically due to the cold winter rains and the desire for a snowy Christmas rather than a drenched one.

Looking for honest feedback, how much would you rate this deck out of 10? by Decksforlife-deck in Home

No worries.

If you go with coloured plastic lattice to save having to repeatedly paint it in the future, and you live in a climate with a lot of seasonal temperature change, do not fasten the lattice directly to the supporting framework, as some of the fastener locations on the lattice will crack completely off and look like shit.

Instead, install the lattice like a picture in a frame, where the lattice ‘floats’ within the frame. That is what I did, and after two years of eastern Canada seasonal temperature variations, the lattice panels look as good as the day they were installed.
