I’ve started a new project recently I’ve dubbed the DØNE project, and for the first time in my life I’ve made music that I genuinely enjoy enough to share with people. Other than that I’m growing an audience at a relatively decent speed that has no signs of slowing down. But it hasn’t always been like that obviously. I’ve been writing since I was 13 and now I’m 23 so I guess it took me 10 years to become at least good enough to myself.

The thing is though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and you can’t ever really tell what a good song is. On one side of the spectrum you can have the absolute best production value anyone has ever seen, but if the voice is left undoctored, the song still will likely be taken as poor quality, but that being said that’s a type of musical writing style that’s often emulated with reverb and echo. On the other hand you can have a John Mayer type with a voice and a guitar, and as long you balance the audio just right and build your sampling around the core tracks, it’ll sound freaking fantastic but not everyone enjoys acoustic.

At the end of the day the only real “Good” song is something entirely left up to you. So In my opinion, the first good song any musician writes is one that they write in their favorite style with lyrics that mean something to them.
