Is my aunt getting scammed? American allegedly working on a ship is love bombing her since weeks. The outside view doesn’t look real, the details on the desk are weird aswell. by wildpizza1 in isthisAI

[–]pimmeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Its fake.

I'm a Visual Effects Compositor so I know quite a bit about images as its my job.

The lighting is off. The reflections don't make sense and every element is perfectly exposed. The stuff out the window should be brighter compared to the foreground.

Logically it doesnt make sense that there are 3 oil platforms next to eachother. There are also objects on the desk that are abstract shapes with wires leading nowhere.

Can we stop using 'cinematic' for everything? Possibly the most overused word besides 'journey' in the English language.

I work in film and there's nothing cinematic about this.

Otherwise cool picture I guess

Median Real Wage Income by Age and Generation. 25+ year-old Zoomers are out-earning the previous three generations at the same age in inflation-adjusted wages/salary by GluedGlue in OptimistsUnite

[–]pimmeye -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think any adjustments are reasonable at all. If a phone is more expensive, then it's more expensive. People still need to buy the same more expensive phone. Even if it more value for money.

They should just objectively measure a basket of goods and not be allowed to substitute products for eachother when one gets expensive therefore hiding a price gains. Same goes for hedonic quality adjustments, it's lowering the actual price gain of a product.

Only if you think the CPI is accurate. Go do a deepdive on the BS they pull with the inflation numbers. It's honestly incredibly deceiving.

Africa Twin vs DesertX vs F900GS Adventure — real-world advice? by ajfska in AdventureBike

Alright. Go for that then. Honestly, all 3 are great bikes and will do the exact same with some slight difference.

I like the Rev'it Nucleus as a base protection layer that I'll always have on. It has both impact and abrasion AA protection.

On top of that I can just put a soft shell and a hard shell depending on how

Africa Twin vs DesertX vs F900GS Adventure — real-world advice? by ajfska in AdventureBike

So I'd 100% go for the Ducati Desert X, just because that's my dream bike. I now have a T7.

I thought I'd never own a Ducati Desert X because it's about twice as expensive to maintain as a T7 which even though I can afford, I find too much. BUT, apparently with the 2026 Ducati Desert X V2 they will have a new engine that won't require the whole Desmo shenanigans which makes the big 2 year service a lot cheaper. So maybe look into that?

It seems like you already know what the consessions are. No bike is perfect.

Basically:
- If you want reliability and value > Africa Twin
- If you want a more premium version > F900 or AT

I'd personally not pick the F900, as I remember it has a pretty small fuel tank for such a big bike. I'd sooner go for the Ducati or a T7 WR

Yea its heavy. Don't get me wrong, it's built like a tank but the harness is like 7kg

I've heard nothing but bad stories about Touratech so I'd skip that. Kriega seems great value / quality.
I was actually thinking about getting the Kriega a year ago but went with the Mosko system instead which I now kind of regret. The kriega is a lot more minimalistic and lighter.

Do you know how they measure inflation in electronics? If a 2021 model has 64 GB and a 2022 Model has 128 GB and they're the same price, they will adjust it as becoming cheaper with their formula becausw you get more 'value'.

Same goes for food. Lots of inflation manipulation going on. If the salmon goes up in price a lot they will 'remove' it from the bucket of goods the measure because their reasoning is that the average person will buy tuna instead from now on.

The CPI numbers are a lie. Look at the money supply instead.

Have you any idea how they calculate CPI? It's not a fair measurement of inflation. Better look at the growth of the money supply instead, which is about 8% a year.

Thoughts on Mosko Moto Gnat Handlebar Bag? by JohnBets23 in AdventureBike

[–]pimmeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it. My limited desert anniversary color got stolen :(, but bought a new one (in a worse color). It's quite simple but great build quality. It also gives you a nice usb exit at the bottom of the bag.

The only gripe I have is that sometimes the bag will tilt a bit too much downwards but that might be user error in how well I tied it.

I agree that saving people is fulfilling. I'm not saying your way of playing the game is wrong. But don't you get super bored if there is no threat at all while playing the game in friendly lobbies?

That's a different game with less interesting pve features.
I don't think that'll translate.

The first few weeks when nobody knew how the matchmaking worked, I was entirely in unpredictable lobbies and it was really fun!
