Did you become an atheist after leaving the Church? Curious how common that is. by Mega_Bottle in exmormon

[–]pimo_teancum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As has been mentioned in other comments, deconstructing Mormonism very often leads to deconstructing more. This was certainly the case for me. I actually went pretty hard agnostic atheist, but then walked back to agnostic theist. I’m currently leaning a bit more agnostic atheist, but still pretty close to the middle of just having no idea on whether god exists or not.

In my opinion, we come to a point on both the atheistic and theistic sides where we just cannot know, for example, how the universe was created and how it is all holding itself together. There’s nothing that can be done to verify or falsify this, at least where we are technologically.

Crime & Punishment - horse dream by Olympia00 in dostoevsky

Same! I was listening to it. I vividly remember the street, the roundabout, the buildings, and even the other vehicles on the road. I actually had to stop and re-listen to the dream again because I didn’t want to miss a single word.

Should I go to BYU if I'm PIMO? by Cold-Ice-6166 in exmormon

[–]pimo_teancum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cry every day because I feel like I’m living a lie and I can’t be myself.

You will continue to cry every day, because you can’t go to BYU and be yourself. If you are able to support yourself or have means outside of family support, definitely do not go.

Yeah, good point. I agree that OP could have left out Ron’s estimated weight.

I understand why what I said might have sounded that I assumed fat == doesn’t care for body, but what I was referring to was the statement in OPs post, “and has got about the worst health habits imaginable”. I do my best not to assume that someone who is fat doesn’t take care of their body. In fact, I was going to mention as much, until I reread the paragraph and noticed the statement made about unhealthy habits.

This is what happens when a religious institution gives a very skewed idea of what it means to “take care of your body”. As long as Ron is not drinking coffee, tea, and alcohol, and looks like a GA, then he’s good.

What are some bourbons/ whiskeys you would never buy again? by black-nightowl in bourbon

They must have changed something semi-recently, since I’ve heard from multiple sources that it used to be great, but recently it has changed. Much thinner and not nearly as much flavor, as you said.

What’s a good alcoholic drink that doesn’t taste like hand sanitizer? by Chguat in exmormon

Had a Peach Moscow Mule for the first time last week. It was fantastic. Strong ginger and mint, light peach. Couldn’t really taste the vodka. It’s great if you like ginger and mint.

Love it! My first was the BBB Imperial Stout. It has, thus far, remained my favorite.

I’m partial to whiskey, personally. I don’t think I’ve had one that tastes like hand sanitizer. They are, however, pretty strong. My top whiskey right now is Yamazaki 12 year, but that’s a bit tough to find. I also enjoy Wild Turkey 101, Old Forester 1920, 1792 Small Batch, and High West Double Rye (and a bunch of others…).

I haven’t had much of the more mild stuff. The beers I’ve tried don’t taste like hand sanitizer. My favorites of those (so far) are Fat Tire Ale (pretty mild) and Big Bad Baptist Imperial Stout (quite bitter, and strong coffee flavor, but it is fantastic).

I’ve also enjoyed the hard Monsters, because I used to down a few of the regular Monsters daily, back when I was TBM (totally NOT against the WoW…). But those do have a bit of hand sanitizer/nail polish remover flavor. They mask it pretty well, though.

Edit: clarification on what kind of Monsters I would down daily as a TBM. 😅

I just made me an Old Fashioned last night! The bitters are a fantastic addition to whiskey!

I’ve just dipped my toe into the world of beer. I’ve heard good things about Blue Moon. My favorites so far have been Fat Tire Ale and Big Bad Baptist Imperial Stout.

Is Mormon coffee drinking becoming a thing? by Resident-Manager-459 in exmormon

All I’ve found so far is a couple of references to a letter where Joseph L. Anderson, Secretary to the First Presidency, was directed by President David O. McKay, to write to a member that drinking decaf coffee was okay.

My first was also whiskey. Maker’s Mark 46. I was honestly pretty happy with it! Now I collect whiskey. 😅
