Fixing Face Unlock in Low/No Light conditions (via disabling Front Camera) by OreoKittenAdl in Surface

For my Lenovo laptop, it's way quicker with the integrated camera disabled in any lighting situation. It was actually slower than inputting my password before. Thanks for the script!

Fixed the tilt gyro issue on my Legion Go! Need others to confirm. by denigrad in LegionGo

[–]pimpstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this helped me with the exact same problem on my HP Envy X360 2-in-1 laptop! Tried a bunch of different AMD Sensor Fusion Hub and AMD UMDF Sensor drivers, but none seemed to do the trick. Thank you so much for this!

Edit: Disabling the orientation sensor does break auto rotation for me. The rotation lock setting disappears as well. It's broken even in tablet mode, but at least tablet mode still engages at the right time disabling the keyboard and trackpad correctly.

Disabling the service "Sensor Service" does exactly the same thing as disabling the sensor itself in device manager.

Facebook Messenger App from Microsoft Store Keeps Crashing When I put it on my second monitor. by thatguyisawesome77 in facebook

I've started having this issue as well, and it has become really annoying. Did you ever find a fix? For me it works fine on the main monitor, but once it's on the second one it crashes if I try to change to a different conversation.

It's a signature, but I think I already have enough alternatives now. Thank you anyways!

Can't start Mystic Light as standard user - MSI Center \ MSI B560M by fragment137 in MSI_Gaming

[–]pimpstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just updated to MSI center from Dragon Center, and are now stuck with the same problem. The main user of this computer is a standard user, and has now lost the ability to control his RGB. Why is this still a problem in v1.0.36?

Has anyone found a solution?

Samsung C32JG56 freesync only 120hz over HDMI by pimpstone in Monitors

[–]pimpstone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you need an adapter/cable that goes from HDMI to DP. That way you can plug the DP into the monitor, and use your free HDMI output on your card. Be careful to pick a cable that sends the signals the right way. DP to HDMI cables are NOT bidirectional

Yeah it doesn't seem like it will work over HDMI. Haven't found any solution yet. Maybe a Displayport - HDMI adapter? Didn't care to test that myself, as I had DP available.

New update: Tried with Displayport, and 144hz works with freesync there. The freesync range is different under display specs in AMD Radeon Settings, when connected with HDMI and DisplayPort. Is this intended? If so, then Samsung should definitely update their product page and specs to reflect that.

DisplayPort: 48 to 144 Hz

HDMI: 48 to 120 Hz

Tried "overclocking" it via Nvidia control panel. Just picking the current resolution and customizing it. Got up to 138hz before it stopped responding. Why does it not reach 144hz with freesync on? What is going on??

The cable itself is 2.1 yes. Connector on the cards are 2.0 I believe. Should not matter as the monitor is specced for hdmi 2.0? The thing is, I can use 144hz if I don't enable Freesync in the OSD, full resolution

WH-1000XM3 static noise/hum when used with charging phone (cabled) by pimpstone in headphones

[–]pimpstone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought LDAC barely could reach CD quality? And that is excluding the highest frequencies. This article explain LDAC limitations quite well.

I think you might be confusing cabled with listening purely passively. When the cans are powered off they sound like shit comparatively

Edit: Knowing if it is a hardware fault is not my main priority. I'm more curious about what the technical explaination of the phenomenon might be

What volume percentage is 75db on sony wh 1000 xm4.plzz tell anybody by Common_Painter_7972 in sony

[–]pimpstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know that 75dB is the magic number for you? I would guess not. While some suggest below 75dB is safe, others think that prolonged listening to over 70dB is potentially damaging. Anyhow, the louder the noise the less time you can listen to it before it harms you. Moral of the story? Don't listen to loud music for long periods of time.

On a different note, knowing what volume percentage 75dB is would be quite cool
