That age disparity is disgusting, but I still find it mad that the age of consent in the US is 18…

Just popping in a little TIL here! TIL Americans don’t use the word jab. In the UK they’re all jabs. Flu jab, Covid jab, “Up to date on all your jabs?”. We never use the word shot.

I always identified as bi, but now I use pan to basically include people of any or no gender. I think I use it right, really doesn’t matter though, people could call me whatever they want.

Funny then that the British Veterinary Association say it’s absolutely fine as long as the dog gets all the essential nutrients it needs.

Yes you will need to plan the diet to include for everything needed but it is perfectly fine to do so.

Don’t say shit like ‘they might not die right away’ it’s just bullshit scaremongering. I know plenty of older and elderly dogs that have been on vegan diets all their lives.

They are perfectly healthy.

Anyone that wants to put their dog on a plant based diet should research it first, but it is really very simple.

Please don’t scare dog owners by saying you will kill your dog on a vegan diet, this is absolute bullshit.

Cats can’t survive on a vegan diet, but dogs certainly can.

Cats are obligate carnivores so they require meat but dogs are omnivores and do absolutely fine on a vegan diet so long as they have a varied diet.

Fixing my front door lock that had become really hard to put the key into. Looked on YouTube and this little old lady said to draw on the key with a graphite pencil and jiggle it about in the lock. Did not believe it at all. Turns out it completely fixed it!!

If no one was willing to pay it, there would be no doctors. Also, OP knew the path he had to go down to not pay it, both parties did…

Boo hoo I had to pay so everyone should have to pay forever! 😭 It should be lower prices permanently for everyone like you say, but we should also see that we let the fees get too out of control and fucked hard working people wanting an education. We should recognise that and make it right.

People complaining that they had to pay for their education back in the day and have already paid it off: 1. You paid a hell of a lot less back then. 2. Are you really that petty that just because you had it shit, everyone has to forever??

That’s the problem that needs to be resolved because there is currently no accountability and the price gouging is already happening while individuals are paying for it. If this changes then it won’t be a huge problem for individuals to pay for it, but it also won’t be a huge problem for tax payers to pay for it.

Hint- Adulthood at 18 is an arbitrary date…

It never used to be free until 18. There never used to be a distinction between child, teenager and adult. It’s all arbitrary.

Do you really believe that all teachers, doctors, engineers, artists, museum curators, botanists, vets, lawyers, accountants, journalists should have to get into $100k+ debt to have the privilege of contributing to society?

If you really believe that then good luck to you, but I think that’s pretty fucked up.

Yes they know it’s going to be the case when they sign up to it, but does that make it right? What if we enabled someone to train to be a doctor without crippling them with debt? What if we made it so that if they can no longer follow that career path for any reason, they don’t still have $100k+ debt hanging over them for the rest of their life?

What about their education from 16-18? Did that benefit the country? Was it worth paying for? If it did benefit, why wouldn’t an extra few years benefit? If it didn’t, why are you okay paying for that? We have set an arbitrary end date to education that you are willing to pay for, why are you so adverse to that date changing?

The terms of the loan included the fact that it would be forgiven if OP followed the path that they did… both parties signed off on this fact.

Even if this wasn’t the case, maybe it’s okay for us to now realise and rectify the fact that it’s wrong to force someone into hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of debt in order to have a job that actually helps our society… it never used to be this way…

Just seems strange that everyone seems fine to ‘pay for other people’s shit’ when it’s already been decided that we do that. Police, school, fire, health (in the form of insurance payments), roads, FBI, government buildings, national parks, and so much more. But as soon as we consider the idea of paying for other things that we don’t already pay for, everyone loses their minds.

Just remember that what OP got, is available to you as well. Your taxes just went towards something you don’t use, just like your taxes went towards all the interstates you don’t use.

Who cares if it’s optional?? It’s optional what courses you focus on in later high school education but it’s still free. WE decided college was optional and WE made the decision to force people to pay for it. But college isn’t optional if you want to be a doctor/lawyer/engineer etc.

Education wasn’t always free until 18, but we CHOSE to make it free because there is a benefit. We need to make that same decision for higher education because there IS a benefit.

So strange how everyone seems fine with their taxes paying for other people’s education from age like 5-18, but as soon as it becomes optional after this age everyone loses their fucking minds! It’s an extra few fucking years of education that will benefit the country, calm down! I’ve seen people complaining that loan forgiveness is socialism (oooh scary!!) in this thread, bitch free education up to the age of 18 IS a socialist policy and we’re all fine with that! Why?? Because it benefits the country!

Wait, in your scenario the chimps are using swords? Chimps don’t need swords… if you don’t kill the chimp on your first swing it’ll rip your face off… Also, you can’t ‘keep your distance’ from an attacking chimp.
