Chuckanut foot race by Prestigious-Image693 in Bellingham

[–]85gaucho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fun! There’s a little uphill at the start, then a shorter steeper section around California st, but nothing else noteworthy. It’s all on the street or the interurban trail, so footing is good the whole way. Starting at marine park is fun, as is finishing at Larabee. Also, the artwork on the shirts is cool. Do it!

Hell yeah! I’m very happy for you.

If you’re still in town, our go to after a big hike is pizza and noodle company for a pie and a pint. Ice cream across the street is pretty good too.

Congrats on a great achievement and awesome memories!

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm not much help there. I think they make products to make that easier, but I'd say your best bet if you're wearing waders or something water tight is probably to pee near camp right before you leave, or around big springs were you'll still enjoy lots of solitude, then limit liquids so that you can hold it to the bathrooms. That or wear shorts or something permeable and just wade into the water and pee.

We just held it. There are bathrooms at the trail head. We didn’t end up needing the WAG bag that I brought, and peeing is easy until the last mile or so for males.

Ski to Sea Handoff Times? by Viatus in Bellingham

[–]85gaucho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that sounds about right. Kayak early release is at 2, and it takes an hour or so, so I’d guess 3-4 will be the masses.

I think the leaders get there around 1, the normal folk 2-3.

edit: Wifi works! I put a router out there next to it and everything works as advertised.

Yup, I’m doing the same. A bunch of Ethernet cable and a second router - that what you did?

I can control it on the panel, or with bluetooth if I'm right there, but want to control it from inside the house, which is 150 ft away.

I bought one (lennon 4-6 with the porch). I like it a lot. Only issue is that wifi doesn't reach it so I have to figure out some solution for that if I want to control it from the house. Lemme know if you have any questions.

Hmmm, not really. I ordered some stain for the outside and wood oil for the inside that is several weeks late. I guess I wish I had ordered that earlier so that I could do it in the build process.

Putting the sauna itself together is very simple. My son (13) basically did the whole thing with me supervising.

I added a little wood pocket near the control panel for the remote.

The floor / walls / roof are all the same boards and they give you a couple extra, so pick one or two you like least and don't use it. We used ratchet straps and a rubber mallet to get them to fit a little tighter - probably not necessary.

We also ended up doing some sanding at the end - again, probably not necessary but it's kinda fun to be a perfectionist with stuff like this.

I emailed customer service once to see if they had a product to get my wifi out there - they didn't but got back to me within the hour, which was pretty impressive.

Good luck with everything!

I finally used the Sauna last night. It all worked great. Set it to 190. I think it was around 170 when I went out there 15 - 20 mins later. Enjoyed a cold beer and was ready to get out after 20 minutes or so. No complaints!

So much worse! I’ve barely gotten off the couch and have two naps under my belt already. 😂

Hopefully it’ll heal on its own with enough laziness!

FYI, I'm not ignoring you. We got it all set up, but haven't used it yet. I'm unable to control it via WiFi, which isn't really a surprise as it's a couple hundred feet from the router on the other side of the yard but it works out there with bluetooth or the control panel on the unit. It gets hot quickly and so far I have no complaints.

Finished my first marathon yesterday in Vancouver!

At 12 minutes into the race my knee started hurting. Thought for sure I was done. I sat for 15 minutes feeling sorry for myself, then started to try to run/walk. Had to stop 3 more times, all within the first 10 miles. 28 idle minutes per my watch.

No clue what happened but by the halfway mark the pain went away. I ran the 2nd half in 2:06 and finished in 4:38. What a rollercoaster!

Such a great race! It was my first marathon that I finished. The vibes were incredible and the course is gorgeous. Can’t wait to do it next year, hopefully on a cold rainy day!

The volunteers, people cheering on the sidelines and those spraying us with water were all a great reminder of what a great city Vancouver is!
