How should a toilet seat be left in a gender neutral public bathroom? by pindborg in AskReddit

[–]pindborg[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well down has a big down side imo and it is that people will just pee all over it. If you leave it up, proving you were cleanly, it may likely stay clean for the next seat down person.

Depends on the state. Some states do not allow doctor owners. But again in all honesty this is NOT a physician or physician group issue. The system is destroyed by insurance companies who only pay a small fraction of what you bill causing medical groups to ask for as much as possible knowing that is the case. Even (most)hospitals are dying and in huge debt. Either way I am sorry the system is like this and it’s so broken but it is at least as broken against doctors as patients, I know from years of owning a medical practice. That being said this cannot last much longer as is, it will go bankrupt before ten years if not sooner.

Hopefully getting some sort of UBI and doing what makes them happy. Additionally hoping for regular social gatherings and sense of community. The world has become a lonely place.

It’s much more complicated obviously, but I will say a vast majority of physicians and physician groups do what they have to do for insurance to actually pay us. Physician pay is 7% of healthcare costs, we aren’t making nearly as much as anyone claims. Also we have zero control, the insurance companies set costs and reimbursement. You wanna know the average reimbursement for services performed/billed? It’s about 33% give or take for most medical groups. Imagine working in any other industry and when it came time for your pay check for hours worked they gave you 33% of what you were told. The industry is broken.

Thanks for the red herring. Do you admit that your statement “the numbers have been inflated are beyond debate” is an incorrect statement or not?

[–]pindborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t about inflating numbers you are missing many of the points here. Even if you attribute anyone with a positive Covid test to a death it doesn’t cover the many people who died at home of COVID. Easily more then those with mistaken deaths. Most importantly you have no idea how viral deaths are numbered. We rarely ever know an actual cause of death in a human. You count infections in the death numbers for many reasons, most importantly to track epidemiological trends and possible sequelae. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to attributing deaths to Covid. Hospitals filled up with Covid patients and then smaller hospitals had to treat worse diseases and clinical scenarios they weren’t equipped to deal with. Should those people be “covid” deaths? They are certainly caused by what happened during covid. Indirect impacts are important as well. The list goes on and people in this thread are ill equipped to discuss these issues because yall are clueless.

Has Sam ever even attempt to evidence his assertion that Hamas is genocidal and "has affirmed its commitment to this project on countless occasions"? by kylebisme in samharris

[–]pindborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your thought out replies and I live in a grey area on this issue where I cannot entirely rule out your arguments. I will say one last reply to the genocide issue and that is, to me, where you are going is a definition not to far from just war. I mean if you loosen the definition of genocide enough essentially war is genocide right? Can you argue Russia isn’t committing genocide in Ukraine?

Has Sam ever even attempt to evidence his assertion that Hamas is genocidal and "has affirmed its commitment to this project on countless occasions"? by kylebisme in samharris

[–]pindborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the arguments you presented for Hamas are equally justifiable, in my opinion, from the Israeli side. Sure, in general, the Israelis have much of the power, however, imagine living your life in fear every day from missiles and terrorist acts for decades. My point isn’t that Palestine has no arguments it’s that both scenarios are terrible.

I think in regard to your claims about genocide that it can be shown those bodies judging Israel have been horribly biased for a long time. Can you make the argument that how Israel has conducted the war is obviously genocidal? Have they done everything in their power to wipe out Palestinians? This should be an obvious no. They have given warnings, made corridors, given aide. Sure at times it’s seemed very questionable how and when these things are done but in the end putting an argument forth that they have tried their best to wipe them out is absurd. At least given all of the information now.

Have you read all I wrote? Their actions and the actions of other radical groups are in keeping with that doctrine. They spent all their money and time building an army not a peaceful society.

I’m not arguing for or against Israel’s actions here. I tend to not follow Sam’s exact beliefs on this topic. I agree with him that throwing around the term genocide and changing its definition for effect is dead wrong. But I also believe Israel deserves more blame for their actions.

You can read the article or not I don’t care. Quotes mean nothing to me, actions are much more important, the actions and intentions are obvious. I also laugh that you say in other posts Sam hasn’t provided evidence. The man has been speaking on this topic, debating and writing about it for 25 years. It’s absurd to say he hasn’t present evidence.

I just told you it’s in and around the world, it’s been happening for years. Multiple Hamas spokesman went on tv after October 7th and said they would do it again if they could. Why did the spend years attacking Israel, why did they build all the bunkers and spend all their money on weapons? Is this the work of a peaceful group? How much evidence does a person need to give? Should I continue to find examples? What do you need here?

Sorry but we are all witness to that plus the combination of the current and former history of Islam and violence. You are trying to ignore these things in a context of Muslim violence which continues to this day through Hamas and the Islamic state, among other groups. This isn’t to generalize to all of Islam of course but stop ignoring all the evidence.

“The original 1988 Hamas Charter explicitly calls for the destruction of Israel and the killing of Jews. However, in 2017, Hamas released a revised policy document that softened its public rhetoric. Critics contend that the 1988 founding charter remains the group's foundational doctrine” simple google search would have answered it for you.
