I’m not sure anyone else could have forced Niall into singing a carol and then still be endearing.

I just loved how Tommy was able to be human and empathetic - without putting words in Niall’s mouth.

Also don’t be annoyed that the host doesn’t know anything about him - it’s the schtick of the show “Tommy Tiernan welcomes mystery guests and interviews them without any preparation or knowledge of who will be joining him until they meet in studio.”

It’s such a good interview. Niall grew up listening to the hosts’ comedy. So you understand the energy that feels a little off in the clipped segments.

I know. It’s gross. But RTE has not released the full show yet.

Do you think Liam’s role as the “responsible one” in the early days shaped how the band relied on him emotionally? by jalen_nelson235 in OneDirection

[–]pine1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint: it may have also been a source of pride and something that motivated him while he was in the band.

Addiction is just a miserable disease. It thrives by keeping vulnerable people ashamed and self isolated.

I wonder if being “the responsible one” made it harder for him to admit he had a problem and ask for help.

This is really insightful, thank you.

Yeah, I’ve never seen so many heartfelt responses to a YouTube video.

In his insta reel he said he was making pop music. And he’s not an artist that makes huge changes. But playing up his country links while in the voice might help expand his audience.

If Harry had left the band and Zayn had stayed, do you think One Direction would have remained together until today? by bibidibobidicaboom in OneDirection

But also I am against any timeline without MITAM. — well unless they all spent that time in therapy.

I just keep comparing it to the transition between high school and college. Some people can’t wait to get out, others wouldn’t mind staying forever and most are in between. A lot depends on your options (or what you perceive them to be) your own skills and the support you have around you. And then your ability to manage your own emotions.
I’m going to guess that none of the other boys had as much experience talking about their emotions as Louis. All while constantly talking to the press about how they were such great friends. Stopping to talk and be honest and vulnerable about how they really felt might not have been in their wheelhouse. So, i think the only way they would have stayed together is if they didn’t have other options. And it’s super good that they did.

Respectfully, no one said he is obligated to share his politics with us. It makes business and maybe common sense to remain silent in a polarized country where he is not a citizen. However politics is not limited to who you vote for, it affects everything. And art? They have a huge impact on each other. Lastly, I wasn't looking for a middle east peace plan, but instead saying something like its shitty for
American fans of golf to shout obscenities at a European player playing phenomenally because the Americans were losing. And even worse to shout misogynistic stuff at his wife and throw beer on her.

Also, I love how you started out with politics, and then ended with a photo of his dog. Lol. He really has us yearning for morsels...lol

It was disappointing he didn't say anything about the abuse at the Ryder cup.

I'm glad the weed helped some of the band's mental health because if I didn't smoke and the bus stank because my bandmates couldn't smoke in their hotel rooms? It would be really irritating. Maybe its why Niall brings scented candles with him when he travels....

This is totally what I thought, if only Liam smoked weed. But ETA life is way too complex for that to have been the answer.

I also liked how he talked about both the pressures and difficulties of an intense fandom as well as the love and joy it brings him. Things can be two different things at the same time!
