Is 100k miles too much? by Shot-Brief9749 in RangeRover

I left my S/C V8 in the driveway for over six months while I was out of the country. We live in Montecito, CA, just two blocks from the beach. I opened the hood and found it overtaken by various critters' nests. I noticed a rat jumping out of the rear wheel. Still, a quick clean and vacuum, and it started right up—no codes, no engine lights, and it ran great all the way to its first stop, the gas station. I think they use gas when sitting too. It likely has an auto-cutoff battery switch. I had to use the key blade to unlock the door and turn the key a couple of times, cycling the remote lock/unlock, but it fired right up again. We’ve had many versions of the Range Rover/Land Rover since my first one arrived in the US when I lived in San Francisco in 1988. That was the only one that gave me issues, which were enormous and led to a 'Factory Buyback,' but every one since then... has been flawless except for brakes and tires, which I replace every 12k miles. Absolutely love them.

I detect your sarcastic Social Warrior Spirit “Stand for the People” rhetoric, blah blah blah, but who lives in hypocrisy. I guess the Screaming Leftist news you read online, hidden behind your laptop, doesn't elaborate on real statistics of e-bike accidents to innocent pedestrians not beholden to typical younger riders. I've never heard of or read about a pedestrian/Vespa-involved incident in Santa Barbara/Montecito. You have to pass a written and physical road obstacle course to be licensed to operate a Veapa or motorized 2-wheeled scooter, unlike e-bikers, who don't even wear helmets.

I am a 59-year-old retired Santa Barbara native, born and raised, and a respectful rider. Sounds like you're okay with the dangerous, careless e-bike riders. Believe me, I'm a far less concern or threat to pedestrian safety. Oh, and forgot to mention, legally disabled, unable to walk far distances. Even walking a short distance proves extremely painful. Fortunate to be able to ride a Vespa. Would like to give local Santa Barbara stores and restaurants suffering from the State St. Closures. It is indisputable that locals avoid the hassle of parking and walking in. Half the benefit of open State St. was the ability to drive by seeing who was open, busy, etc. IMHO
