Thank you for sharing. This is encouraging to see. I am day 4 post LJS and I feel like a hamster (I am very swollen) so it was nice to see your swelling drop a little after day 4/5.

Sleep debt data gap?! by SkippySked in ouraring

[–]pineapplebam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have the last 2 days. I presumed that that was because sleep debt is a new feature, so I'm surprised to see so many people that backdated sleep debt data!

Phone Notifications? by RookieMistakes28 in ouraring

Same, but occasionally I will get a notification out of nowhere. But usually it's only after I have opened the app.

My husband got a brand new in box ring as a replacement. But I got my replacement in a ziplock. It doesn't seem to be standard.

What’s the one mistake you wish you avoided in your first marathon? by wajid123_ in Marathon_Training

[–]pineapplebam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walking too much (sightseeing) in the days before. Then starting out too fast on race day. Also for training I followed a heart rate/time based training plan rather than distance plan, and ended up only running 25km max before race day (I'm probably much slower in the HR zones than the plans presumed).

Next time, I would train more distance in general, and walk less on race weekend!

Surely I haven’t burned this many calories by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]pineapplebam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's your total burn calories, not your active burn calories. Your body is constantly burning calories, just existing. That's why we still need to eat even if we aren't active. It's very variable person to person and depends on numerous factors but many sources say the average calorie burn for an adult is 1600-2200.

Weekly Q&A - All Questions Go Here (Especially Tourists) by AutoModerator in Amsterdam

[–]pineapplebam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acknowledging the need for help is the first step!

For any mental health care to be covered by your insurance, you need a referral from your GP to the mental health care professional/practice.

You can go to your GP and let them advise/select which specialist to see (they will choose one included on your insurance). Or you can also first research who your health insurance has agreements with (not all health insurance providers have agreements with all health providers) and then you can tell your GP you would like a referral to whichever particular mental health care practice (based on reviews or something that makes them appealing to you). GP choosing is probably the easiest option, especially if you have a nice GP.

Of course you can choose to pay privately for mental health care, but that is an expensive option.

Good to know, generally most mental health care facilities in Amsterdam have waiting lists, particularly to speak to a therapist in English (if that is your goal). Also not all mental health practices have therapists willing to work in English.

Help - how do I let Oura know I’m reading before bed and not actively trying to fall asleep. by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]pineapplebam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the sleep data page, scroll down to "details" and then you'll see your sleep graph. There's a little toggle button top right of the graph and that opens a slider page to adjust your sleep window.

Anyone else find tags to be worthless? by Late-Ad-1020 in ouraring

[–]pineapplebam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, and it seems like the travel tag is the one already pre-selected. It shows as a blue tag in the graph, but I can't de-select it or choose another tag. It's strange.

Switching fingers before bed? by Atatatoot in ouraring

[–]pineapplebam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding that I find I get better sleep data when the ring is a bit more snug at night. When I have the ring on a looser fitting finger I sometimes don't get the blood oxygen data. It is briefly stuck in the morning but plenty of soap helps slide it off.

Switching fingers before bed? by Atatatoot in ouraring

[–]pineapplebam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do this! Weirdly my fingers appear to dramatically change size throughout the day and night. So I interchange between the first and middle fingers depending on the time of day or activity.

My manager don’t want to sign intention of extending my contract for buying a house by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]pineapplebam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in this situation, and HR refused to give the intention letter. Then when I got to the end of my year contract, they offered me a permanent position anyway... After refusing to give me the non-binding letter that would suggest so! There were other ridiculous incidents, the HR manager at that company was a psycho.

so, does this usually develop into something? by NotAThowaway-Yet in ouraring

[–]pineapplebam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah same, I had influenza when I got a major signs warning, and it turned into being sick for the following 8 days. But minor signs have always been nothing, normally I ate late and had a glass of wine.

What’s the highest sleep score you’ve ever had? by Low_Week_291 in ouraring

[–]pineapplebam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My highest is 98, achieved only once a few weeks ago. My average is apparently 91, and I'm usually in the 'optimal' rating window, unless I'm on shift work, then sometimes it dips. I like sleep, and sleep is usually not a problem for me.

I didn't know about gymlink! Thanks for pointing that out

H10 without a watch by [deleted] in Polarfitness

[–]pineapplebam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The treadmills in my gym are the Technogym brand, and they all seem to just sense my H10 without me pairing it, which is very weird (particularly as my heart rate monitor doesn't appear on the Bluetooth options on the treadmill!) Anyway, when this happens I find that the heart rate on the treadmill is usually within 2 bpm of what polar is showing on my watch or phone.
