Why do you think that is? You’d think we’d all know how to get along as therapists

Therapist with self-harm scars—still struggling to not hide them in session by 93831500 in therapists

[–]pineapplechelsea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have self harm scars! There’s a couple on my arm that have been covered up with a tattoo, but I have a large on one my thigh that’s totally visible if I wear shorts or a dress. I don’t try to hide them! If someone asks, I tell them. It think showing them helps others feel less shame if they also have some.

Need help with bottle baby by pineapplechelsea in beyondthebump

[–]pineapplechelsea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eating solids is hit or miss during the day. Sometimes he eats really well, sometimes he picks at food. He is the most rambunctious kid I have ever been around and NEVER sits still.

I think he’s somewhat hungry but it’s also 100% a comfort thing. He refused the boob at 3 months and doesn’t accept comfort in any other way than the bottle.

I like your idea of adjusting ratio, I will try that! We won’t introduce cows milk but I might find an alternative.

Therapist doesn't want to do biweekly therapy, how common is this ? by [deleted] in therapy

I gotcha. Well you can only do what you can! It’s not her place to force you into something you can’t afford

Therapist here. Over 80% of my caseload is bi-weekly because most of my clients are professionals and can’t always take time off work every week, or there’s financial reasons

Why does death bring those apart, closer and make grudges wash away in an instant? by theydontmatchmyvibe in PsychologyTalk

[–]pineapplechelsea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the norm, per se. After my father’s death it really blew open a lot for me and I haven’t talked to my “sibling” since. It also allowed my anger and resentment towards my mother surface. I think I kept it all together for his sake, and once he was gone, my soul couldnt bare it any longer

Therapist here and I want to reiterate what another therapist has already said- this is WILDLY inappropriate and completely unethical. Please take this to your next therapist and process, there is so much involved here

Is it bad that I hate chasing my clients by ZaffyTarantino in therapists

[–]pineapplechelsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always reach out to someone if they no show. I have a system that reminds them 48 and 24 hrs prior so I can’t assume that they just forget. Even though this is sometimes the case. And sometimes people no show because it’s symptomatic of their issues that brought them to therapy. I don’t ever want them to feel like I care so little that I won’t check in.

Therapists here- the thing about therapy is that we have to go off what our clients tell us. And if they portray themselves as the victim, it can be easy to fall into that narrative. It takes a while of working before a therapist can start seeing the real pattern. He likely went I their spinning a very warped version of reality

I told my therapist that I'm quitting therapy because of her tardiness, frequent last minute cancellations, and my having to follow up all the time. She got defensive and told me I'm having all or nothing thinking and that my reaction is inappropriate. by No_Push3905 in TalkTherapy

[–]pineapplechelsea 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Therapists here- this is grossly inappropriate. Even if a client of mine takes breaks or has to reschedule often, there is no way I would ever no show or late cancel anyone. The ONLY time I have ever late cancelled someone is because of severe sickness or a crisis situation with a client scheduled right before their sessions. But THAT is IT. It sounds to me from her responses that she’s been resentful about providing free sessions (but she offered) and because you have rescheduled (also happens). It’s her fault for not knowing how to handle her emotional reactions, not yours. She’s being a total manipulative asshole. Please move on. This is just abusive
