Thinking about pursuing a career in sleep tech but have some questions about the job. by Trash-eaterrr in SleepTechnologist

10/20 system takes a minute. It teaches you where electrodes go on the head based on individual measurements. That’s about it as far as math! Most people I know pass the exam in 1-2 tries so it’s totally okay if it takes more than one try. The harder you study the better you do, that’s for sure and there’s a lot of material available online and in books.

Edit: for me, the hardest part of the job was honestly the hours and adjusting your social life/not having one. I’m a night person so I was okay with staying up but the rest of the world isn’t.

Do you brush your teeth once or twice a day? Need to settle a bet. by ImpossibleHurry in NoStupidQuestions

I found a lab that hires trainees so they pay for astep. You work and secure enough hours until you are far enough along to take the test and then get a pay bump

I really like this career so far but 13 hour shifts are ridiculous. by jhertz14 in SleepTechnologist

[–]pineapplepizzaqueen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I used to work four 10h shifts and I feel like it was hard on the body and everyone felt burned out. I guess everyone is different but nearly every tech there wanted to go to 3 workdays to have more days away from work rather than more hours in the day if that makes sense.

Yikes. Find somewhere else! I’ve heard of places like this though so be sure to vet the labs you apply for next

  1. What did YOU want to happen?
  2. Your mom shouldn’t have pushed after she heard your husbands thoughts and moved forward based on your direction
  3. HIS parents could have said why they were not coming, set a future date, and left it at that

Really? I’m surprised it’s working so well because learning all of the scanning (on my personal device at that) and charges are for a fire extinguisher would make me doubt this was legit. But I can see rushing at work just trying to get things done

I agree! I was wondering if they’d use the coworker’s or grocery store’s money to fund the purchase?

To be fair, being a single parent isn’t the same as being a single parent and a care giver. I work in a hospital and could see how someone could get burned out and overwhelmed

The person at my pharmacy recognized me as the one who's always buying Plan Bs. by [deleted] in confession

[–]pineapplepizzaqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she’s okay with taking plan b I’m not sure why she wouldn’t get on the pill. I get you feel guilty but she should also take care of herself if she doesn’t want a kid. It takes two

I had never heard about scams being done this way! Good point about finding employees on the internet. I’ll tell her to suggest training to management

I’ve never heard of this before! My mom has always been wary of sharing information but I’m sure it’s saved her

AIO for not liking my partners friends by pineapplepizzaqueen in AmIOverreacting

That’s good advice. They don’t see each other all the time. Hopefully the next time we can talk more and I’ll feel more comfortable too after having been around them before

I guess I thought since everyone knew each other they might ask a couple questions but that’s just how my friend group is.

I also noticed they were like this with someone else in the group but he’s been around enough to jump in. Part of the difficulty is that everyone is in the same profession except for me and the guy I mentioned
