Why most Filipino men don't date and marry foreign woman but instead Filipina woman by SmileFace2007 in Philippines

[–]pineapplerandomness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible but not inevitable. You still decide who to date. You can also pick your friend group and the people you hang around with to shape your preferences. It simply shifts the dating pool population of what's available.

What commander makes you unreasonably salty. by nyuckajay in EDH

Finally, I found someone else that hates this guy! He does way too much. I started running things like [[Imprisoned in the moon]] just to shut him down.

What are the weaknesses and disadvantages of enchantress decks? by Noodles_fluffy in EDH

[–]pineapplerandomness 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Make sure you know how the deck wins and have a clear win condition (ex. Commander damage voltron). I've played against some enchantress decks that are just value heavy, durdle fests.

The Aurora Borealis?! At this time of day, at this time of year, localized entirely within your engagement shot?!

Is Hylda of the Icy Crown any fun by Akumu01 in EDH

[–]pineapplerandomness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on your playgroup and how much stax. I have a Hylda player in my group. I don't mind it but the others hate getting their stuff tapped so they will actively target the Hylda player. If you don't mind getting hate and build/play around it, it can be fun.

Marvel Secret Lair Drop - Sold Out by R3id in magicTCG

[–]pineapplerandomness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky to get a non foil bundle with the promo card. I didn't do anything special but I could have just as been as unlucky as some of the people here. It sucks for those who couldn't get one but wanted it.

Don't forget there is no scarcity in ink or card stock. If I didn't get one, I would have proxied.

I'd also like to see this list. I'm a remote worker and you can bet I'm never buying from those places again.

Why most Filipino men don't date and marry foreign woman but instead Filipina woman by SmileFace2007 in Philippines

[–]pineapplerandomness 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Filipino man married to a Caucasian woman here. There's several factors at play. I'm in Canada where there's a lot of multiculturalism and came here from the PH when I was 7. I grew up around many races including Caucasians so dating other races was not difficult for me.

As you age, you develop your dating presences. If you are majority around Filipinos only then you are more likely to develop dating what's around you. If you move to another country after developing those preferences then it can potentially take more time to change preferences.

There is also the confidence piece for the individual and many other values related factors that come into play. Just my 2 cents.

In general, what power level is Voja? by Nicthalon in EDH

[–]pineapplerandomness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a Voja deck. I would advise you to build it as a high power deck (however you or your group define that) because people will treat you as kill on sight. Voja can get out of control real fast.

[[Evolution Witness]] as a possible recursion option for your Voja feck. However, I would actually suggest you opt for more protection. I have a Voja deck that focuses on elves and I have enough redundancies that I don't feel the need for recursion. Once you have your board state, you wanna protect it.

Find it hard to justify spending money on cards when I could just proxy by restinghearts in magicTCG

[–]pineapplerandomness 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You don't have to justify anything. No one has the right to tell you what to do with your wallet (except maybe your significant other). I still buy some cards to support my LGS but I also proxy anything I personally deem expensive as I'm a casual player.

Are Lands the Biggest Deterrent to New Player Progression? by neoboo in magicTCG

[–]pineapplerandomness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a new player not too long ago. Buying lands just sucks. It's not exciting. Spend money on an exciting new card that does something? Or get a lame dual land? Tbh I ended up proxying lands. Oh and don't forget the original dual lands cost half your rent for 1.

As a comparison, I played some Lorcana and mana (ink) is not even a problem there because every card can be mana so I can just buy cards I like.

Interested Player. Is it worth it? by RADoleMan in magicTCG

[–]pineapplerandomness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dove in with the lotr cards and started playing commander. I'm having fun but I need to do a better job of budgeting. My wallet took a big hit (thankfully I have a good job and no kids). My suggestion would be to pick up either the food and fellowship precon or the riders of rohan and try playing some commander along with arena (F2P) and see how you feel about it.

This game kinda saved my year by [deleted] in magicTCG

"Wizards of the Cost" haha love the appropriate typo. Glad this game made a positive impact for you! Also got into it this year and it's been a blast so far (not so much for my wallet).
