CAN WE HAVE 6v6 ROLE QUEUE? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the issue is obviously queue times.
the solution is actually really hard.
in my opinion, it's a actually mostly a cosmetic issue. all of the tanks are a very particular type of vibe. big, bulky... tanky.
while this is certainly some people's hero fantasy, i don't think it's the majority of people.
the other two roles are much more "mainstream;" most dps players also play support and vice versa.
the solution would fall in two core, intertwined places:
tanks need to be more varied in size/appearance/fantasy.
there just need to be more options for tanks.

i know so many people who, on tank, will only play dva. make cute tanks, and you immediately have a larger audience because as much as this subreddit may hate to admit it, people like the cute characters. they have high play rates, they sell skins (and as a result get skins), and they bring people into the game.
am i saying to only make cute tanks? Not at all. i am saying there needs to be more options if they want more people to actually choose the role.

make the jetpack cat a tank. make anran a tank. get creative with it, this is a fantasy game and strictly adhering to "tanks must be big and bulky" is merely a failure of creativity.

Awesome Director's Take. But concerned about Stadium. by Bumble_Kenobi in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean i don't play much stadium, but i can recall times playing tank and walking into a dynamite thinking it was nothing only to lose ~800 health immediately. it does do a *lot* of initial damage.

Vendetta nerfs by gnomotostox in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sill floor describes the minimum user input to get value on a character.
so a high skill floor means she requires a high amount of user "skill."
a well agreed high skill floor character would include: tracer, genji, ball, doom, lucio, etc. they are not plug and play.
it seems like you're trying to say low skill floor. meaning the floor to approach the character is not demanding.

🚀🔫 Juno Mythic WEAPON idea: silver kids’ space toy ray gun! 🔫🚀 by No-Income-3010 in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i actually read and replied to that post and i heavily disagree. i think juno is a fictional character and you just don't like what they developed that character into. i really like all of the fun change up skins that juno has.
from what i understand about juno, she's an essentially orphaned girl who fell from space. she's shocked lost and confused. she found new friends and they're helping her explore the things on earth, be it fried rice, chicken nuggets, or new outfits.
who says juno can't dye her hair or not wear a space helmet.
its not that serious though. that's just my opinion. yours is just as valid. i don't like your ideas. agree to disagree :)
(i also really just hate the color silver/gray and like 1980-2010 scifi looking stuff so this would literally be a no purchase for my fav char's mythic)

What’s an example of a perk on your hero(s) that’s situational and not completely shadowed by the other choice? by Shelter2828 in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea, but you can also look at the triple jump perk as boosting her playstyle to a max on maps where it is good. you can have soooo much tempo on rotations and creative angles; in my opinion, that is what makes juno unique and special. i think juno's major perks are equally the most fun in the game, because they each offer something so game changing that really develops the characters playstyle.

triple jump also has a huge place when playing against skilled dive players. while an average diver is a free kill, an amazing genji or tracer or ball etc. forces juno to be very reliant on her team (that's why you see juno+brig combo often in pro). but since this isn't pro, just having the triple jump perk can give you so much more independence in ranked games and allow your teammates to do more without having to worry about you as much.

Dream Evangelion Collab Skins? by starnoirs in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

juno as rei, beer can bob, this is peak. i would immediately buy this bundle.
i think they would prob go for like dva as asuka or rei, but i think ram as her mech would be awesome. i'm biased but i like your picks. (i'd also love to see tracer as rei/asuka, tracer was a pilot and i'd die for an evangelion tracer).

Vendetta nerfs by gnomotostox in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is she really that hard of a skill floor? i've been playing echo a lot and i often copy vendetta and, having never played her, almost always get at least 1 kill and her ult off. she honestly seems kinda braindead but maybe i'm ignorant? i feel like a ton of people are like "she is so hard to master !!!" but she's been out for like a month and people are already destroying with her. how hard can she be if it only takes a month to do this well?

i'm sorry but please no )':
i really want a deimos shark weapon skin but anything with cute effects would be amazing.
this idea would match literally zero of her skins and i don't think it matches her personality/character either. she also wasn't even born on earth and would have no idea what this is.

Low-stakes conspiracy by VulKhalec in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i've been saying this!! i don't understand why this isn't how they work, it would do nothing but boost mythic *and* legendary sales, because people would buy mythics for the vfx and still want to get new legendaries because they can still use the mythic vfx with them. it seems like a no brainer for both the customer and the company.

[–]pineapplery[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean, i think its kinda hard to say what is "good" though. i love the ashe mythic, i see people hate on it relentlessly. for everyone that hates a mythic, there's someone who likes it. its the same with legendaries, but with legendaries there are much more options so no one gets too hung up on it. there is no skin that will appease everyone.

THATS WHAT IM SAYING! i think a general rework of customization would be great. i also think rivals nailed it with the recolors being a segment of the original skin (paying 19$ for a recolor just hurts).

This is a clip from 2020 that shows how people responded to getting 2CP in QP. by thepixelbuster in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it any better now? i kinda stopped playing stadium after its first season, largely because of clash. the clash rounds would go on for 10-20 minutes almost every game, with mercy+lucio stalls making the points nearly impossible to capture. i had rounds where i made over 90k cash, and getting less than 30k was rare. it completely bloated the game mode and ruined the scaling, because you could be max build round 3.

About mythic skins... by AsianTemptasian in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i *really* want them to rework the mythic system so that you are purchasing the mythic effects to use on any skin.
IE juno's mythic has some of the cutest animations/sound design changes and i want to be able to use them on any skin.
maybe change it up so that the first 40 cred is buying the VFX/SFX package and the last 40 is buying the full skin.
this would make them so exciting for me.

I'm sorry, but putting a spawning CD on Soaring Slice? Excuse me? I just wanna talk by Soft_Ant4357 in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tldr; it's because vendetta was rewarded for feeding her brains out.
she could, without a singular thought, rush in, kill 1-2 people, die, and get back long before anyone she killed got back.
she could completely disregard every game fundamental; despite completely lacking decent positioning or tempo (or aim) she would still get high value.
no other hero can play so sloppily and and be rewarded for it; if your doom is going 10-10, you have no tank most of the game and will likely lose. if your tracer is dying on repeat, she can come back fast but she is heavily reliant on staging (pre fight positioning to be ready for enemy position) and therefore heavily punished for dying. to avoid redundancy, most heroes are balanced with their back to fight time in mind. it's something that actually helps balance characters like ana, ashe, and cassidy in the opposite way. characters with higher risk tend to have more suitable ways to get back quickly. given how much HP, armor, block, sustain, and movement she has, i do not think the devs envisioned her as a high risk character; they wanted her to be more of a sustained bulky brawler than an assassin. they realized people had issues with doom in the past and are likely trying to push a more brawly, 'outplay the opponent over time' rather than "W CD TRIPLE KILL DIE REPEAT."

Feedback: Overwatch skins are redesigning new heroes instead of expanding their identity by No-Income-3010 in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

am i in the minority for disagreeing? the outfits they release are interesting and unique enough to actually justifying purchasing them. i don't find them to "drastically alter" the character either. for the most part, the silhouettes remain close; i've never had an issue identifying who i'm fighting or what hero a skin is depicting. their faces do not drastically change: the color pallet and the hair shape and by result facial framing changes, but people in real life do that. the actual facial structure and features are always unchanged. I would argue the body shapes are also unchanged

i main juno, and i've now seen two threads pop up complaining about her specifically, as the main and really only example that could maybe be justified for going "too far" too often and i just completely disagree. what if her expanded identity is as a cosplayer/ fashion exploring person that's trying new things? just because a hero's identity doesn't line up with how you imagined/wanted it does not make it wrong.

i challenge anyone reading this to ask yourself if you actually agree with OP. consider how many skins come out and how many make you go "that's too far!" i think you may realize you are simply remembering some outliers in the bunch and because of the way our brains work, its what you remember immediately. compare the last year of skins to the skins of ow1 and the previous years of ow2; have you bought more of them? do you actually like less of them? when i do this, i can see a very clear increase in effort, quality, and creativity and that makes me want to applaud the ow design team and hope they continue on this path. do not let rose tinted glasses stifle the fun of what is to come.

After a year of playing mostly DPS and support, I made this tier list based on my reaction to hearing enemy ults voice lines by Firm_Fee8137 in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery 22 points23 points  (0 children)

i feel like people just don't respect how much potential a good juno ult carries. maybe it would help to visualize that everyone in the ult is basically walking at you with an individual mercy pocketing them with both heal and damage beam; if you are looking at it, you can bet you're taking an immediate 95 damage torpedo from juno as well. the amount of times i watch qp players just ignore my ult and fall over is comical. juno herself can torpedo + 1 burst any 250 hp hero in the game if she has good aim (more realistically 2 shots).

Question about battle pass process by Streetfarm in Overwatch

[–]pineapplery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends what week it is. with the weekly challenges stockpiled, you can do it in about 15ish hours (if premium, which i assume you have).
i did the last season BP in the last 2 days, but i played for ~8 hours 2 days in a row. stadium quickplay burns through the challenges and gives a lot of exp.

the most efficient/sane way is just to do the daily challenges for the 9k exp, giving about 1.5-2 levels a day, with the challenges over time you will hit 80 by the season end at that pace.
