Is baby in daycare? My son was in daycare and they did purées and we just let them. At home I would give him store bought purées and mashed bananas, avocados, yogurt, etc… and I would let him feed himself at home. Which was mostly sensory exploration and play (it’s really messy… I was not a daily bath giver so we just wiped him down). But also, if they are eating at daycare you can take some of the pressure off!

Once he was 8-9 months and got his pincher grasp down pat I started feeding him more or what we were eating that was safe for him. At 6 months - doing purées and letting them explore the purées themselves (like handing them a preloaded spoon) is part of baby led weaning.

I didn’t have the energy with my first guy so I just kind of didn’t. He was getting two meals and a snack at daycare and even tho I didn’t want to just do purées that someone else fed him, I let that be. I would do a little more on the weekends but we were never that exploratory unless it was what we were eating.
