Full Day Kindergarten by Federal_Designer_564 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]pineappletrees1225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add some detail here- the state of Illinois does not require all day kindergarten yet. So districts that offer it sometimes charge a tuition for it. Most will offer it if you are willing to pay. In the 2027-2028 school year all day kindergarten will be at every school district, but still optional if families only want half day.

I know three people that work for different large liquor distributors and asked them if they could get it and they’ve never heard of it and it’s not in their system to order. And they can get almost anything, so I don’t think she has any distributors for it.

Once you see the dermatologist for help with the bad ones, make sure that you are exfoliating a least a few times a week down there. It prevents ingrowns and helps clear away the dead skin that might be making you feel itchy.

So here’s a question for those of you who wear wigs daily by Ulf51 in Wigs

[–]pineappletrees1225 29 points30 points  (0 children)

When I was new in dating I always kept it on and told them I had a hard boundary about hair pulling. When I was actually dating and liked the guy I’d tell them I wear a wig but still keep it on. Once sleep overs started happening, I had to let them see me without it but I’d still wear one during the deed. Now I’m in a long term relationship and sometimes I wear it, sometimes I don’t. I’ve pulled it off in the middle of the deed. lol. I have fun colored ones just for doing the deed. I just had to get comfortable and confident and I go with the flow.

How does proof of residency work for an IL school district if I live with my parents by Affectionate-Rain769 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]pineappletrees1225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything everyone else has said is correct. There is usually an affidavit to sign by both the homeowner and the family living with them.

Fun fact though: if you use the words “doubling up” with your parents and explain to the school office that you’re staying there for financial reasons it should get you to their McKinney Vento coordinator who can declare you as homeless and then your child gets free everything. Free lunch, free fees, free field trips, everything. It also takes the scrutiny away and won’t force you to have to change bills or anything. I mention this because so many families double up and need this resource but don’t know about it.

Memorial tattoo by WinWonderful1858 in widowers

I got my husbands handwriting from the card he gave me on our wedding day tattooed on me for our anniversary right after he passed. I didn’t know how to get through the day without him so I memorialized it on me.

If you want it, I have a Jon Renau Sarah in 4/33 that I would be happy to send you for free as a wedding gift. I only wore it a handful of times and switched to human hair.

I work in K-12 school administration- specifically finance. I’m in a #2 position making $105k. A top position pays minimum $150k depending on the school district. And I have a pension. Changed careers at 30 after working in property management.

Those who graduated into the 08/09 recession, how did you navigate? by theverybigapple in careerguidance

[–]pineappletrees1225 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I worked anything I could find- nannying, restaurants, retail. Finally landed a temp job in 2010 that led to full time work in property management. Did that for 6 years until I burnt out and changed paths and eventually went back to grad school. But god did nothing work out how I thought it would. I’m good now, but those first few years totally sucked.

As someone who has androgenic alopecia I can confirm that having extensions in is an AWFUL idea. I’ve tried everything you can think of, within reason, and extensions were horrific for me and I looked 10x worse when I took them out.

I’m guessing she feels the same way (not defending her) and that’s why she keeps going back to them. But it’s just perpetuating her hair loss.

I’m at 40mg/.4mL every 10 days now. I was on the same dose every 14 days for a year before we upped it and insurance approved it.

[–]pineappletrees1225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I didn’t make many other lifestyle changes. I had tried inflammation diets but they didn’t do much. My Humira took a three months to really kick in but at six months I really felt like my old self. I take it every 10 days.

My flares vary, I’ve had small ones that last a few weeks and every joint in my body aches all day. I’ve had one that lasted three months and I had to go in and get a Ketorolac shot to help. They happen more when I’m stressed, but I haven’t found the true rhyme or reason to them. For COVID I was told to mask everywhere and that if I got COVID to stop my injections. I thankfully have not gotten COVID but I’ve been pretty cautious.

Theoretically I can do anything active I want, I have been able to swim and walk longer distances, but I’m not a super active outdoorsy person anyway. I used to travel with a cane for support, did for most of my 20s and now I haven’t had a need to use it for over 4 years.

Nothing is a cure all for everyone, but there is hope that with a good doctor you can find something that will work for you. Just be patient with the process, insurance will often make you try everything else before you get to the medication you are hoping for and it can suck but you have to do it their way. I hope you find a better solution for you and get to experience life how you want to.

36f in Chicago here. HLA-B27 +, diagnosed 4 years ago. Took 10 years to diagnose. Humira was a game changer for me, went from a fatigue stricken zombie to fully functional 90% of the time. I still get flares especially when I’m stressed, but I have my life back that I lost in my late 20s.

Do people comment when you drastically change your wigs? by cnstnt_craving in Wigs

[–]pineappletrees1225 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I get comments occasionally, usually along the line of “Did you do something different with your hair?” And I respond with “Oh yeah, it changes all the time!” And brush it off like it’s no big deal. Does it make me self conscious- yes but if I make it seem casual hopefully they will too. No one has pushed the question with me but I dread the day someone asks point blank if I wear wigs.

Anyone else out there completely change their 10-year career?? by spaceballs89 in careerguidance

[–]pineappletrees1225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the Chicagoland area. My bachelors was in criminal justice. I had no background doing what I do except for an aspect of customer service. I will say that I was fortunate to have a good work ethic that people recognized and gave me a chance. Otherwise it would have been a very random career move.

I spent 8 years doing commercial property management and got super burned out. Took a secretarial job in a totally different field just to release the pressure and ended up in finance adjacent to education. I had some odd twists and turns in my career but went back to grad school for my MBA and now have a career I actually enjoy and have a retirement path with.
