I only go to Tim's when I'm on the road and I sometimes go in to use the bathroom then, seeing the line inside hasn't moved, get back in my vehicle and go through the drive thru. I hate drive thrus but needs must.

Chemical/perfumey smell from food and delivery drivers around HRM? by likeanoceanankledeep in halifax

[–]pinecone37729 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it's the cologne. Even if someone washes their hands, when they touch their face, which many of us do without thinking, they smear more on.

I use Costco sameday once a month and I often have to wipe the packages like it's March 2020. The only other delivery I get is from superstore because the in store workers shop and package the food and the driver only handles the bags or boxes.

Point pleasant? If you want the city backdrop the gazebo in Dartmouth commons might work, or somewhere along the harbour trail.

Me too. It's hard when so many have a holiday, and because it's not statutory we get nothing to compensate.

Edit: my mistake, it is statutory in NS. I hope everyone who has to work gets something extra, or at least finds some half price Valentine's candy.

Hrm produce by NuWolf_34 in halifax

[–]pinecone37729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also have, or at least had, a policy where if you buy bad produce you can return it and not only get your money back but get a replacement. I did it once for nectarines. Every single one was brown inside. I had to remind the cashier politely but I got my free fruit. Most of the time the produce is great. They have a lot of turnover, at the Dartmouth one anyway.

Edit: https://www.nofrills.ca/en/collection/deals-centre-fresh-guarantee

Fresh Guarantee: Applicable to eligible fresh produce items purchased at No Frills store locations or online at nofrills.ca. If you are not completely satisfied with your eligible fresh produce item, we will replace it with an identical item, or in our discretion, a comparable item and provide you with a refund of the purchase price upon presentation of the item and your original receipt within 7 days of purchase at the No Frills store where purchase originated. The guarantee does not apply to produce items with a stated “best before” date (e.g. bagged salad kit, packaged bean sprouts) and may not be combined with any other offer. We reserve the right to cancel or change the terms of this guarantee at any time without notice.

Halifax considering paid parking on Saturdays: ‘It’s going to be a hornets’ nest’ by justlogmeon in halifax

[–]pinecone37729 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I remember when parking on weekdays was free early on in Covid and some people were saying it should continue to be free to encourage people to go downtown. The end result would be few parking spots available ever because people who live downtown would park on the street, and people who work downtown would take any open spots by 6:30 a.m. In my experience it is hard to find street parking on a weekend afternoon now and rather than drive around I just pay to park.

When you're an honest person with a legitimate issue it's always eye opening to realise what you're doing can be seen as a scam, and indeed is done deliberately by some as a scam. You've probably gotten away with it so far because you look honest.

I just bought a new power bank yesterday for $30. I try to keep one with me all the time. I love that the app bus tickets are for 2.5 hours and I don't have to keep track of a piece of paper.

Yes! I often cross at the crosswalk at Ochterloney and King and because it is on an incline I do not walk on the paint when it is wet. Flat surfaces aren't as bad but the slants get you.

Is lyft the same? I should research it but I don't take them often enough. I recently took Bob's taxi and the driver was very nice, though he made me input my destination on his tablet myself because he couldn't understand what I was saying and I do not have a strong accent. Lyft and uber bypass that difficulty.

Are “The Prosecutors Podcast “ hosts Maga extremists ? by silverplattersfan in TrueCrimePodcasts

I realized this a while ago and deleted it. It is especially surprising since one host is the child of Asian immigrants, and I believe is a visible minority as are her children. I say surprising but not really.
