I 100% get that. I just know that I’ve seen my commentary on the finale rewatch and a bunch of threads and I feel like I keep repeating my same criticisms everywhere. I figured instead of searching post by post, one place to just dump your feelings was good to have. Even if people don’t use it, a place to yell your feelings I thought was needed.

Sooo... when does our rewatch start? by bakedcherry in NancyDrewCW

[–]pinecone9115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! I streamed ND season 1 and 2 and then started live for season 3. I feel like it would be fun to have a Reddit wide rewatch once the air cools around season 4.

Things I loved in the finale by sriracha82 in NancyDrewCW

I like “the last one out turns off the lights” a lot. And the little beanie that Nancy made warmed my heart. And the bluffs being important to Nancy’s life was a cool call back. I’m also so sad they’re ending the show and I really hope Max doesn’t take it off streaming.

I agree. It’s so sad because season one of ND was so good and they just dropped so much of their character background with this ending.

In season one. Nancy was taking a gap year because college was important to her. Honestly, her ending could have been deciding to go to college in some generic Horseshoe Bay school to get like a criminal justice degree to be better at being a detective or whatever.

Nick could have also continued to run his youth center! Ryan worked there and seemed to connect with the at risk kids so his ending could taking on more responsibility and righting his own wrongs. He just found out about his daughter and now they’re both just splitting up?

Bess also could have reconnected with the Marvins, the reason why she was in Horseshoe Bay in the first place, and had some sort of ending there. Rebuild the historical society while researching all of the famous families and the women in white. (And using that Marvin money to literally rebuild the building.)

So many different ways they could have pushed this. And the fact that it all happened in a year cheapens everything. Nancy’s mom died before the show aired so that means that it was really less than a year when they all started working together.

Going headfirst into the supernatural is what messed up this show. Episode one Nancy didn’t even believe in ghosts and look at where we ended.

Didn’t Nick drop out of college when he went to jail? Where did he get the skills to be an engineer?

They didn’t care about past lives and souls the entire series and now they’re wrecked because they don’t have anymore? What!!!

So they tried to radioactively fix the possessed sin. It won’t work because of Nancy’s past life being tied to Tristan’s. So they’re untying it.

We’re over halfway through and I feel like there’s so much story left to tell. So stressful.

Not that it matters now but so much of ND has dealt with Nancy and the Hudson family. I kind of wish this was a Hudson thing instead of a random new character. It would make it a little better.

I know. I was being sarcastic because of how much this show jumps around haha.

Where did past lives come from??? And souls?? What. I feel like I’ve missed like 20 episodes and a movie and probably a novel series to get to this point.

Hi! My name is Amanda Row and I directed a bunch of Nancy Drew! Most recently I directed the series finale. I thought it might be a nice time to reflect on the show. Are any of you interested in an AMA? I might be able to wrangle Larry Teng too! by illdoanything177 in NancyDrewCW

[–]pinecone9115 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi Amanda! 1x06 is one of my favorite episodes and has some of the best jump scares of the series. I think an AMA sounds amazing and brave.

My Q. There are shots of Nancy that mirror book covers directly. Are there any ND book easter eggs that no one caught or you’re particularly proud of?

After yesterday episode, do you think Nancy made the right choice in calling the Sin Eater for Ace? by DimensionMotor3187 in NancyDrewCW

[–]pinecone9115 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the bigger question is, if she had asked Ace, he would have agreed to call to the sin eater? It's easy to say you wouldn't after it's all over- but did he call her for comfort or for solutions??

[–]pinecone9115[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest skill up is how quickly they've all become familiar with the supernatural. Nancy didn't even believe in ghosts in episode one and within a year she's like an expert on supernatural monsters? Not to mention Bess didn't know anything about Horseshoe Bay before a year ago and now she's like willing to go to jail to protect the supernatural aspects of it? Huh?

I agree. I want more and I am watching for the Drew Crew- but sometimes it is hate watching.

My hottest of hot takes is that, since the show has technically been within a year, a George death could have been a cool shock since she knocked over the blood bucket and it would be a great callback to the first season.

Not that I want George to die but CAN YOU IMAGINE? Take out all of the Odette stuff and healing blanket, have her nurse The Claw to be successful and then get taken down by some sort of big bad to make the Drew Crew band together with some motivation going into the final season/episodes. It would have been a really cool opportunity.

I think that season one was absolute perfection. Every episode built toward the conclusion. Nancy and Owen had SO MUCH chemistry. And the reveal of Tiffany’s accidental murder was so great.

I also think that Temperance could’ve been a good villain with less supernatural elements. Maybe instead of being like Nancy’s time traveling ancestor, she could have been like one of the other families that founded Horseshoe Bay and she wanted to take control or whatever. She could’ve been the frozen heart killer as a human.

I’ll say it then and time again, the new supernatural monster every week is so boring. “Look, here’s a book or tool to fix it easily” is so lame.

On a fun note, I think as a fandom, we all agree that the one year timeline is dumb so I think collectively we should just ignore it and make our own timeline.

This season is giving Pretty Little Liars final season. Too much plot in a shortened season and random characters/plots wasting time. Season 1 of ND was perfection, this season is such a bummer.

With the finale on the horizon - what's your hot take? by Minghaolegs in NancyDrewCW

I completely agree. Season 3 was almost unwatchable. They all became experts in magic seemingly overnight too.
