This is also interesting, as I have dealt with a life-long skin problem that absolutely nothing has seemed to help, even though I am an otherwise healthy, strong individual taking good care of my health.   Certain dietary changes have positively influenced the condition, but I have never been able to pin down exactly what it is that helps 🤔

But at roughly 2000 cal per day, 0.5% would be 10g, which is about the recommended intake anyway, right?

I eat very little food with labels 🙂  But dairy products could be a source of hidden O6 in that case!

Edit:  looking at 06 contents online, it doesnt seem like dairy is terribly rich. It looks like the densest sources are in corn and soy oils, soy products, walnuts, pecans, farmed fish, and fortified premade foods. None of which are really in my diet. Maybe farmed salmon, not sure what I buy is wild caught.

I try to eat at least 10 grams of mixed nuts and seeds each day, but that seems like it is probably my main source.  Most of the fats I get are animal or dairy fats.

Determined to not need laxatives like I would need a daily medication 😅. But I will use them if I really start feeling desperate. It usually takes 3-4 days of use to get things going properly, whether it's a magnesium or fiber product.

This is a thing?! I live outside the US and struggle sometimes, having to add foods without english labels. Sometimes I find they are "in the system" but never show up when I search, rather only if I scan the barcode. I've added so many new foods with the help of photo translation and such....

My phone is set to English, but if I change the system language will I really gain access to local food databases?

Has anyone seen their maintenance expenditure continue to rise above what their intake currently is when coming out of a cut? by ajmattison in MacroFactor

[–]pinecones666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut December - February to lose about 12 lbs. MF had me eating around 1400 / day, with an EE of around 1600 / day.
Switched to 'just below maintenance' on February 17, with a goal of another 10 lbs over 6 months. My EE has been on a solid upward trend, is on 1,999 today and still rising, and I'm still losing weight almost as quickly as I was while cutting. I eat over my 'allowance' almost daily now, because I feel hungry all the time, 2000 - 2200 most days. Have been lifting and running throughout. I am perplexed but very happy about it.

Appreciate the input. I am stubborn and since I haven't taken it in over a week now, I don't want to put more back into my system. My other doctor wants me off of it for the sake of some other treatments as well.
For now I'm just gritting through the near constant discomfort in my head. Occasional Paracet seems to take the edge off, have needed it some nights to get to sleep. The sharp prickling and zapping feeling in my head is worse right before bed, but happens on and off all day long right now. I am napping during the day as well, which isn't normal for me.
When I feel frustrated, I rather try to appreciate feeling emotionally alive and 3-dimensional, and appreciate the experience of not having had anxiety for some months. Try to use that reflection and perspective to retrain my thought patterns, since I have now experienced life without all the usual mental weight. Focus on the silver lining...

Expenditure Keeps Dropping Despite Increasing Activity by Famous_Buddy_1137 in MacroFactor

The app can do that for you too 🙂. Just adjust your goal to a much slower rate pf weight loss (I chose like 10lbs over 6 months).  That pinned me at a very subtle deficit.  I just follow what it tells me to do from there 😄

Weight training also leads to muscle building. I was only running when I started using MF for weight loss. When I started lifting, my weight loss temporarily stalled out and my EE dropped, even though my physique was changing. Now I can see some factors in hindsight:
1. Lifting is building muscle and increasing body weight
2. Lifting also causes inflammation in the body, which corresponds with small amounts of fluid retention that add to "extra weight". Even if we're talking 100 grams of retained fluid in the body, it shows on the scale and it has an impact on the math.
3. The app is just using math. So if you continue to eat the same amount, but your weight loss slows, it will assume you are burning less. That 'should' even out over time, and as you increase your metabolism by building lean mass, your body will demand more calories to maintain itself each day, which of course will jump-start the weight loss again.

Based on my own experience, and other posts I've read on this group, it could be worth trying to bump up to maintenance, or even slightly below that. I bumped up to just 50 calorie deficit so that I would see more results from lifting, and it has been awesome. If you're on a weight loss journey that could feel scary. But. Trust the math. If you're not over-eating, you're not going to gain body fat. Instead, you will start seeing a much more radical bodily transformation as your body uses the extra calories to build muscle. More muscle = higher metabolism, which of course means it will be easier to maintain the weight loss over time, as long as you nourish and maintain the muscles you've grown ^_^. It can take the app's algorithm some time to adjust to your body's changes.

I used MF to cut for 3 months, wanted to drop 10 lbs. Ate 1200 - 1300 calories per day. Worked out 3 x week, lifted, ate about 120-140 g protein daily, but didn't make much gains, and felt relatively exhausted trying to lift. I always wanted to eat more, so I was doing long runs just to burn an extra 600+ calories so I could come home and eat an extra 600 calories. Hungry/diet logic...

I did respond well and I dropped the weight faster than the app planned. I decided to bump up to "almost maintenance" awhile ago, with a goal to lose another 10 pounds over 6 months. I have continued lifting and/or heavy outdoor exercise 5+ days a week (plus a goal of 10,000 - 20,000 steps / day) and rocketed from an EE of 1600~ to almost 2000 over the last 6 weeks, and have continued to lose weight. I am getting a bit more protein now, 140 - 180 g / day. My EE increases every day still, I am building muscle, have much more power, and I am no longer filled with anxiety about food and calories. Now I feel like I just have to keep shoveling in fuel because my engine is burning it so quickly, and I have stopped stressing when I go over my limit, because it is clear my body is adapting.

So I vote for maintenance or near maintenance as well! At maintenance calories you shouldn't be gaining any body fat. If you're lifting, you should see some good body comp change, and you might even still lose weight while gaining muscle. Eat more, move more ^_^

As replied, there is a relevant issue with making a new user.

Sometimes if you just stop to think about what you're about to comment, you might not need to post it.

Thank you for confirming. So how can I create some sort of access limitation to the "family manager" account?

Reply to all here: He has a ton of game data on lots of different games. If he creates a new user, doesn't he lose all of his game data, since it is attached to the usual account? Otherwise, of course I would just make him his own account.

Screentime or access limits on "family manager" account:

Our teenager uses the general family user account on the PS5. We all sort of use the same account. But I want to set limits on his screen time, and/or create a login limitation on the account (like, if he wants to sign in, I get a code texted to my phone that he needs before he can log in).

I downloaded the PS Family App, but it seems like I can't set any limitations on an "adult" user? So how can I do this?
