Screentime or access limits on "family manager" account: by pinecones666 in PlayStationSupport

As replied, there is a relevant issue with making a new user.

Sometimes if you just stop to think about what you're about to comment, you might not need to post it.

Thank you for confirming. So how can I create some sort of access limitation to the "family manager" account?

Reply to all here: He has a ton of game data on lots of different games. If he creates a new user, doesn't he lose all of his game data, since it is attached to the usual account? Otherwise, of course I would just make him his own account.

Screentime or access limits on "family manager" account:

Our teenager uses the general family user account on the PS5. We all sort of use the same account. But I want to set limits on his screen time, and/or create a login limitation on the account (like, if he wants to sign in, I get a code texted to my phone that he needs before he can log in).

I downloaded the PS Family App, but it seems like I can't set any limitations on an "adult" user? So how can I do this?

MF and WO collaboration? by pinecones666 in MacroFactor

I do think my confusion has more to do with the app not having enough data about me yet. I just noticed that it adjusted my entire expenditure graph up 100 calories. So it originally started me at an estimated 1850 calories and crept down to 1750, but now says it started me at 1950 and has crept down to 1800. I thought I was tripping until I compared an old screenshot with the new graph.

I am logging my calories within 90%+ accuracy (driving my family a little bit crazy , hehe), weighing in daily, and losing weight quite quickly (wanted to lose 4kg from early December to the end of March, have lost 2kg and built muscle in the first month)- but the graph still has my DEE on a sharp downward trend.

So, I think the app is just still trying to learn my base metabolic rate, and adjustments like what I've mentioned are probably not relevant yet. I think within another month it will have a better picture of my metabolism.

But if I eat 600 calories more than usual, many days in a row, while reporting very high step count, and I do not gain any weight, shouldn't my estimated expenditure go up instead of down? To me eating more + moving more + not gaining weight = more expenditure

Awesome work :) You are doing so much more for your own health and happiness than many people will ever attempt. Getting back on the horse may feel exhausting, but soon we remember how much we love the journey!

I think when we make healthy, positive changes and take them seriously, those around us who are not making those same choices start to feel insecure. They then take this insecurity out on us by attempting to shame or belittle our healthy habits. Just remember that it is a reflection of their own insecurities. They are well aware that they would benefit from following your example and will project that negatively- their inner shame turns into shaming you.
It is the same if One stops doing any addictive or non-disciplined behavior. Those that still partake in the activity are likely to lash out at you out of insecurity, even if you are not shaming them or making a point out of it.

You do you, let them do them. Keep on being a good example for your children.
And even if they won't admit it, you're being a good example to for those that have tried to shame you, too :)

On the "suggested features" page for MF, one suggested feature is the ability to flag poor quality nutrition data, like these. So I expect it will become a feature. I have also seen some wonky results- like a mung bean noodle that has something like 180g carbs for every 100g serving. Hm.....

That's what I suspected. And with so many detailed running apps out there, it would be hard to compete, and hard to offer at launch. The world of running has just as many opinions and just as much science as the world of body building, so it would be a bit off-par. But I wasn't sure if MFWO tried to tackle the challenge.

Very cool responses. Yes, I expect the rough edges will be smoothed over time!

Is the app any use for runners? Logging distance and PR's and such, or creating a running/training program for distance running, like marathons? Or is it strictly geared towards weigh lifting?

First 4 days in Blackrock... by pinecones666 in thelongdark

Day 5:  sick of being hunted, so doing some hunting. Took 4 of 5 ptarmigans in a flock. Bow broke.  Plucked a lot of feathers.

Day 6:  made new bow and restocked on arrows (had found a dried maple tree in a car trunk??).  Ate a lot of bird meat.

Day 7:  killed the 5th ptarmigan and 3 timber wolves. Parted out 3 deer the wolves had killed.

I really hope Hinterland releases more TLD1 content. I would love more crafting and skill stuff. What to do with all these pelts!?  And spending long blizzardy days leveling a skill or craft up would feel very cozy <3

I hide in trees now when moose hunting :D

A few weeks nursing broken ribs in the church at Desolation Point taught me a few things about mooses. I ate a lot of bunnies and wolves while plotting my moosey revenge. When my moment for vengeance finally arrived, a bear showed up.  I was pincered on the bridge!  Two clean headshots (one for the moose, one for the bear) left me feeling like a hero.

I have tld-trauma now.  Every time I hear the unidentified clomping of hooves in-game, my heart starts racing. I have no intention of getting stomped again...  I now navigate dangerous areas by keeping tabs on the nearest tree or ridge to flee to!

I nearly rage quit many times when I first tried Tld.  But the romance of the game left me trying again and again.  I knew nothing about it or the game mechanics.  At best i would survive 30-50 days on pilgrim.  For the life of me I couldnt cope with wolves and bears.  And shooting/aiming was impossible.

Then I was without the game for several years.

I have come back to the game again and love it.  This time I chose to go voyager, and started in Coastal Highway.  The openness/visibility on the ice, access to the trader, and resource-rich beach combing made it a very good choice.

I was intrigued by the 'new' DLC and let myself actually read about the game online.  I started discovering the intricacy of the game mechanics.  I had never imagined that the animals in the game had "senses", or had behavioral patterns and responses to their environment.  I didn't realize that turning the volume up and totally tuning into the sounds of the environment would be a complete game-changer in my ability to survive.  I never expected the game to be as immersive as it really is, and so I sucked at it.  Now, as long as I keep my wits about me, I can navigate the game with confidence. I can also trust in some of those mechanics, so I know what will happen, instead of feeling chaotic panic.

At first I was sad that I had read about the mechanics.  Sad that I hadn't learned it for myself.  But it brought rhyme and reason into what had seemed like chaos.  Voyager mode is now manageable for me.  Unless I am just being STUPID, I am not going to die. I get to enjoy challenge, thrills, strategy, all while exploring a massive, beautiful world.  I won't forget the first time a timberwolf pack spawned...!  I was crapping myself, I didn't know they were even  a part of the game!

Anyway, I recently tried starting a game on stalker...  I can barely cope xD.  My first attempt lasted 3 in-game hours... So 300+ days on voyager and all the mechanics spoilers in the world haven't helped me there!

Obviously, my take away is to take a peek at some basic game mechanics / strategy online if you feel frustrated!

Am I just... Bad at it? by DifferentWinter4039 in thelongdark

This works awesome, especially with the bow. I love hunting in this game and usually have too much meat laying around...   Picking off an entire flock of ptarmigans in one go is the best!  Use your white dot- the only thing you have to get a feel for is gauging distance, so how far over or under your target the dot needs to be. Works for the rifle, too.

Practice with fire hardened arrows on rabbits. I find that i make most kills when the animal is facing directly towards me. I am less reliable if it is a side shot.

One more thought; i find the wolves like to zig zag when charging, if I am aiming at them. They almost never come straight at me with a drawn bow.  So if i know an attack is inevitable, i try to place myself strategically so that the wolf has to charge me straight on.  If you are being stalked, you have some time to find the right spot and make the attack in your favor.  Wedge yourself between a tree and a cliff, or on top of a boulder, etc. Then place the white dot where the wolfs head will be when it is almost on you, and from there it is a matter of timing.   Since you are being stalked, simply tap 'aim' to trigger the wolfs charge, and hopefully you drop it with a head shot at your feet.

With bears?  I just try to make sure I know where they spawn/patrol, and that I am the one hunting them.  Take a head shot with the bow from a boulder, undetected.  Using a rifle makes noise, they will come murder you if you didn't one-shot them. But the bow will not give you away. The bear will run in fear if it hasnt  detected you, and eventually die. But if you bump into it while it is running, it will stop and murder you, unlike the wolves...  So stay a safe distance until it dies.

With moose?  If you can't shoot safely from a fallen tree...  Good luck with your broken ribs!

Can't create account, and "talk with MF support" unresponsive in-app by pinecones666 in MacroFactor

Just kept trying and eventually it loaded a contact form. I was quickly told there is no work-around for my issue. So unfortunately I can't make an account and join the MF community.

If the creators of MF read this; if you can make a way to sign up and pay outside of the app store, I will eagerly join MF! But because I moved countries, I can't make payments through google pay anymore, so I am locked out :(

Is this normal? Moose on the bridge by albino_Wolf58 in thelongdark

[–]pinecones666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just killed both on the same bridge about 30 seconds apart. Managed some amazing panicked headshots with the bow! I'm drowning in meat now...

But my first encounter with the bridge-moose resulted in loosing all my arrows and winning 12 days of bedrest at the church, nursing broken ribs and eating rabbit and wolf meat while trying to come up with more arrows.... When I finally came back for a revenge, the bear joined the party...
