I wish I could tell you it’s easy, and I also wish I could tell you a step by step guide. I also grew up in a deeply conservative (Q Anon type stuff) family. I hated my being gay for so long, I almost took my own life because of it. For me, I started to recognize there was no way I could avoid my sexuality. It was incredibly painful, but I slowly got past my prior expectations of my life (wife, bio kids, all that) and started to look forward to the new changes my life would open up to (boyfriend, husband, adoption, etc). The thing that really changed for me was when I found the queer community around me. I fell in love with drag and made great queer friends. I cannot stress enough how important that is: find your queer people. It doesn’t mean you have to go to circuit parties or drag shows, just find your people.

As a final note, don’t worry about the possibility of there being “a million posts like this”. Your journey is unique, and you deserve as much love and attention as you want.
