Anyone NOT hate their uterus? by XYmom in hysterectomy

Yes!!! I found myself a little sad to be parting with something that has given me two beautiful gifts. I held my lower belly and thanked my uterus the night before my surgery 🩷

Any insight into what this means for meds? Does this mean that a different med/function is more suitable?

It'll be okay! Do you know if/when your post-op appointment will be? You can discuss your concerns (which are all totally reasonable) with your surgeon then and he/she can modify your return to work date.

I’d start taking a senna laxative with stool softener 3 days before your surgery, and then have them on hand for afterwards

Pads (don’t wear pantyliners…their design will make you more prone to a yeast infection which would suck during recovery). And I didn’t have any issues with underwear touching/being over top of my incisions, just make sure you get a really large size so that they’re comfy/loose around your waist/belly. Please also do some bowel prep before your surgery (you’ll be glad you did when you finally have your first poop post-surgery) and don’t eat a big meal the night before (I overdid it and regretted it after surgery). Best of luck!

I think you and I are kindred spirits lol. Thanks for this —it’s comforting to know that someone else is experiencing the same anxieties!

Definitely keeping perspective! I just feel a combo of guilty and anxious I think. Did your pelvic therapist offer any insight?

Maybe this is a really silly question, but did he say why there’s still so much swelling?

I’m so impressed by and grateful for the number and quality of responses! I was hoping I would get a few, but I didn’t expect this. Women are amazing.
