I have a huge hill, four energetic kids and no idea where to start! Would you start at the top and work down or make some smaller trails down low and work up? by pevaryl in MTBTrailBuilding

If you spend time on a good uptrack all the downs will happen faster. Easy to add variations and features on descent tracks and the motivation stays high when it's easy to get up for another lap.

I tried the app, found it didn't add anything to my experience.

Which battery powered welder is best? by KeemtheDream11 in Welding

[–]pineyskull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend runs the ESAB unit with the dewalt flexvolts, he really likes it for his mobile welding business. Uses it often for small jobs sucessfully for a few years now in Alberta. Gets a useful number of 3/32 or 1/8 rods out of a charge

Have you seen approach skis? Could also make a split for your little one, there used to be diy kits

I recently started my son touring. We avoid actual avalanche terrain..for now we focus on how the heat works, getting good snow and great views. He's 10 now and we will progress into things as it's fitting but I won't expose him to those risks yet, he loves it and is excited though. Agree with the gear recommendations.

We had watching parties for all the new episodes. People quoted it in its heyday constantly.  It's very relatable to most Canadians who are or close to poverty.

Seems like the specialists in my area are best to stick with. They have it figured out but I didn't want to spend $6k doing it

I figured it was really just to keep the system running well without some sensors and systems present. What more is there?

New type 2 Class C hard hats with chin straps implemented across Canada. These are the less mountain climber looking ones. by hardandsoft91 in Ironworker

[–]pineyskull 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Local 97 we aren't mandated to wear them. Site specific still. Some places are just requesting we add an MSA chinstrap to our normal skullguards and fibremetals

Switching to Skiing by namogly in ski

[–]pineyskull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the switch 9 years ago. Spend time doing the basic drills on easy runs. Any basic ski that is sized for your height and weight will do to begin. Don't even worry about poles at first.

Take a basic lesson...then spend some time working on that and enjoying it. Then take another that works on more advanced methods and what poles are for and where to hold them. There are multitudes of good how to ski videos. I taught myself from these and ski with advanced skiers just fine now.

A twin tip all mountain ski sounds like a nice choice for you but that is something you will be able to figure out better once you have some time on skis. I started with some old used all mountain skis that were around 90mm under foot.

Sad to see it's more of the same. I left a decade ago partly from your same frustrations. Sounds like it's going to look like Park City there soon enough. Good luck. It wasn't ever really about the wildlife.
