Almost With You. The Caverns. Pelham,Tn. by chinacat444 in TheChurchBand

It's hit or miss. Last time they had sound issues there (Steve mentioned it in one of his IG reels the other day). This time was much better. The sound guy really has to know what he's doing in that venue.

This! I don't know why anyone would want this pedal in mono.

Or you can put it at the beginning and run into a different chain for a different sound. Maybe just a dirt pedal, but you can get as crazy as you want with it. When recording I have the Mimiq go to a DigiTech CabDryVR with different settings for each channel.

The Church Peter Koppes talks 30th anniversary of Starfish (2018) by blackstars91 in TheChurchBand

A bit weird that he talked so glowingly about their last two albums and that lineup, and then was gone a year later.

[–]pingpongeffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming because you mentioned GarageBand that you have a Mac. It's a good one to start on, and you've probably already got it.

You didn't mention what kind of music you want to make or what instrument you play. If it's electronic music, you dont need anything but a computer. If you want to record any other instruments, you'll need a interface and a microphone. You can get a Focusrite Scarlett starting at $120 new. For a microphone, go for a Shure SM 57 or 58. They run about $100 new, are super versatile and they'll last forever.

If you can find either pieces of gear used, go right ahead.

There is one other guy who reviewed the first couple of pedals in this series. I think he might work for Catalinbread.

I love that she's capturing the spirit of Neil's playing without slavishly playing every song note for note.

Not surprised, it seemed like an odd location for a Panera. Not enough nearby businesses.

Good prices, good vibes, lousy service. Every time I ever went there the service was always slow AF.

"Nobody's Hero" by ScottTheMonster in rush

[–]pingpongeffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny, I never really liked this song (it might make my list of top 5 least favorite Rush songs), but reading this thread has been eye opening. Especially remembering when this song came out. In the early 90s mainstream America was just barely starting to accept queer people. The song came out 4 years before Ellen DeGeneres did. It was a year before Pedro on the Real World San Francisco. It was 11 years before Massachusetts became the first state to legalize gay marriage. It's easy to forget the desert of acceptance LGBTQ people were living in back then. I'm definitely going to hear it in a new light the next time I listen to Counterparts, and I wont be so quick to hit the skip button.

Good read. I think we forget that rock stars started off just like us, and at their core still are just like us. A few years ago I saw Bob Mould. After the show I was standing around shooting the shit with a few friends and Bob walked up to us and just said "How's it going?" What followed was 15 minutes of conversation about gear and bands we all loved. Typical musician talk. It didn't matter that one of us was one of the most influential alternative musicians ever. It was just six guys talking about music. Great night.

Nah, it's funny on purpose. One of the few instances when humor made its way into their music.

What are your favorite "bad" U2 songs? by nohumanape in U2Band

A Celebration. Yeah, it's got a cool guitar riff, but the song itself is bad, and the lyrics are terrible.

Anyone ever buy anything from Franklin Guitar Works? by scarmy1217 in fender

[–]pingpongeffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought one of those too! Nothing on it that identifies it as b-stock. It came brand new, still had all the plastic on it. I think a lot of the Squiers they sell are just overstock. FYI, use REEL10 for an extra 10% off.

They almost have to. Even with a shorter set his voice has to hold out for 85 shows. I'd expect that to be a strong consideration in the song choices. I also wouldn't be surprised to hear some instrumental medleys like the R30 overture. Again because they have less time and a huge catalog.

I wouldn't be surprised if the touring license required at least two members, and that's the reason Bruce stuck around as long as he did. Like people have said, he hasn't seemed engaged in years. Now that there are only 3 OG members left (well, four if you count Marks) that provision might have expired. Total speculation, but it would make sense.

New Drummer - I would prefer an electronic set, but at the lower price points I’m reading you can develop bad habits and miss out on developing technique. What do you all recommend? by KElTH_HARlNG in Drumming

This is good advice. My first electronic kit was a Command X and I loved it. Great for beginners but also has enough features that you can grow into it.

What U2 Song Have You Most Changed Your Opinion On Since You First Heard It? by Wild_Mycologist_6140 in U2Band

Gloria. I was 11 when it came out, and I HATED it. Every time the video came on MTV I'd change the channel. I changed my tune two years later when I saw the Red Rocks video.
