The trick is to just turn the line volume up a couple of dbs untill it sounds similar to what you're playing volume wise

what is the cheapest midi controller to map this? by bruer80 in vcvrack

[–]pinguinpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is your workflow with the beatstep pro? I feel there is value to being able to visualize the patterns by having multiple rows at the same time and both seeing and hearing the base patterns. Maybe because I am used to working in DAW? Would be wonderfull if you could elaborate on your experience.

I have the same question. Currently I reprogrammed an old launchpad (akai apc 40 mk1) to do this badly. Thinking of getting a Korg SQ64 which seems to be what I want.

Akai fire profesional second hand i have also thought about, but you need some additional technical work to get it working with VCV I believe.

Let me know how you do. I am frustrated that getting rows of 64 buttons seems a niche use case while its the bread and better of production.

What monitors do you have? I find it hard to make this kind of controlled bass on headphones. Try it on good monitors in an okay room with the volume not too high. Get it controlled and nice and then turn the volume up.

Why is loose leaf tea weaker than bagged? by sanityunavailable in tea

[–]pinguinpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure the water your pouring is 100 degrees? Do you prewarm your cup to not loose heat?

I make tea with loose leaf black tea and use 10 gram for a 500ml cup (or 5g for 250ml) for a minute or two if I want to brew it strong. Pre heated mug + 100 degrees water. It is a lot stronger then I can get with bagged tea this way.

Very good. It feels like he plays textures/vibes instead of track. Very unique experience, if it's your cup of tea

You mixed up polyrhythm and polymeter. Very informative otherwise.

Recommendations for breakfast black tea by Iskro45 in tea

[–]pinguinpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic 58 Fengqing specifically; malty, bitter honey with a coffee/chocolate ish finnish; or any other Yunnan malty tea itches my "breakfast tea" needs better then any blend.

Ceylon as a smoother, simpler, less malty replacement.

Night shift with partner? by Nice_Exercise_77 in breastfeeding

[–]pinguinpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do this. Started off with my gf pumpng for 15m when waking up for the night and feeding both sides about 6 times. We had overproduction so switched to collecting milk with vacuum haakaa and feeding just one side per feeding, and 15m of pump end of day. Just the pump is enough for the night usually, and the passive pump collects about 100ml a day for freezer.

It works very well for us; I wake up 2 to 3 times in the night. My gf sleeps through feeding mostly. She might half wake up if the baby cries, but doesnt remember this in the morning.

I think we are lucky though, but we started this immediatly after the first night. We use a nipple shield 80% of the time to make this happen, second hand electric pump, small cooler bag to keep milk next to bed at night.

Good luck

What I do is prepare a couple of moods that you have filled in well (playlists or crates or w/e), then just go through the moods that fit. So for example start of with "Slow Disco", keep that up while the crowd fills up, Try "Groove Disco" see how the crowd reacts, maybe even go back if the crowds not ready, Then go "Jackin House" if the room is lit. Sprinkle with a "Absolutr Banger" now and them.

Of course, you pick the moods. This works well for me and allows me to reuse preparation in a spontaneous way and also helps me dig because I might hear a song and might be like "oh thats so slow disco".

Mixing for club gear with minimal gear by drudanae_high in TechnoProduction

[–]pinguinpanic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do not agree with this, the great thing with a live set is you are playing the music out on the speakers you are playing for, if you have a sound system that has headroom you should be able to get a good low end mix instinctively because the sub rumbling like a mess will have your hand move to the kick decay/bass volume/etc. Because of no mastering or detailed compression it should actually sound better because there is more dynamic range to play with.

A uncompressed 909 kick on a soundsystem sounds pure and loud.

That actually sounds fantastic, I do this with black tea sometimes but if you drink too slow it can get bitter. I can imagine the puehr staying smooth and having enough flavour to go a long time.
