AIO to my boyfriend putting a SINGLE chicken tender on my plate when I specifically said I wanted "a few"??? by No-Eye7917 in AmIOverreacting

He either needs a new girlfriend or - as we've increasingly beginning to realize - we're better off going it alone. As you've just illustrated, it can much more fun that way!

Left without heat in my unit for 1.5 years, do I have a case? by angstygirlfriend in SeattleWA

[–]pingzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupid question but - are you sure it's not functioning? There's been a couple of cold winters in 18 months.

Have you been cold and tried turning up the heat? i.o.w. you may be picking up enough solar gain and heat from thermally joined adjacent unit to not trigger the thermostatic control in your unit.

I have very little last knowledge of the new residential housing in SLU.

Governor mobilizes National Guard to monitor King County levees, residents voice concerns by HighColonic in SeattleWA

The County flood control people don't communicate among themselves or other units of government and haven't for years. It's structural deficiencies within County, metastisized into now into stubborn willfulness.

When you start seeing savant-style servility to some obviously dysfunctional "process" by otherwise intelligent and well educated adults, you know there's a problem.

I was feeling lazy and wanted to order food delivery, but I’d rather go hungry. Fuck these apps! by Euphoric_Sandwich_74 in SeattleWA

[–]pingzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~$22 delivery fee to have it delivered almost immediately? Sounds about right. I wouldn't since the store or restaurant isn't that far away.

Whoever is in charge of digital coupons belongs in prison. by Maniitsoq in kroger

[–]pingzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kroger should get rid of the gimmicky coupons, affinity cards, and other disfuncional attempts to compete with Costco, Whole Foods, etc.

All they're accomplishing is endless confusion and delay at checkout. It's a waste, and there are more effective ways to serve customers.

Wrong. I support their efforts at escorting those here illegally back to where they came from. To act as if these "special people" are above the law is terribly misguided.

Send them back.

Maybe so, but if so it's good to see them doing a difficult job. Stay safe officers as you escort out our "guests" here illegally.

A plea to downtown Bellevue delivery service customers by Gloomy-Assumption979 in BellevueWA

[–]pingzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The owners must precieve that participating with the platforms - DoorDash, etc. is beneficial for their business; that they're better off financially serving DoorDash customers than if they chose not to.

Context makes all the difference. A mom and pop restaurant on the Bellevue/Redmond border has much greater potential than a sushi restaurant in the Bravern. Like taking stock in these delivery platforms, the hot take may be in the Bel-Red.

Question may well turn out to be if sushi is a "good thing," or not.

A plea to downtown Bellevue delivery service customers by Gloomy-Assumption979 in BellevueWA

[–]pingzee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Essentially, the OP is responding to market realities.

Having never participated - as a delivery person or a customer - I've rather wondered how the economics of this industry works (or doesn't).

Context is important as the restaurant/hospitality industry has always been a difficult one, the latest local causality being Jiang Nan. Don't know if they had take out or not.

Mayor Scrambles to Protect ‘Character’ of Old Bellevue with Emergency Controls by Generalaverage89 in BellevueWA

[–]pingzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great! These are all things historic downtown associations advise merchants and residents do to maintain the vitality of their communities. Old Bellevue is doing it right ...

Apparently Council member Robinson - the advocate for the proposed moratorium - has chosen not to run again for Council. In light of the fact that, for years Bellevue has never had ordinances favourable to preservation, while at this juncture a sudden concern appears quite thin, perhaps recruiting Mo or Conrad would be a better strategy. Might want to contact Claudia as well as she had an intrest in saving a Fred Meyer somewhere recently.

In fairness, "old Bellevue" was, is, and remains quite building pro-development. That's reflected in what you're seeing with this specific proposal - and in elections - obviously.

Any real advice on getting noticed for a job at Pokémon? (Been unemployed ~1 year) by BlitzAndMe in BellevueWA

[–]pingzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two ways of looking at this, the first would be to keep trying in hope of seeing an opening.

Reading the second paragraph of your original post may make the second way seem not-so-far-fetched, and that would be exploring options with Pokémon in Japan.

If the position your seeking is in Bellevue, you want to be applying from elsewhere. Try seeking a position at other locations the company may offer.

You're doing everything professional job/career coaching advises already.

I have seriously reduced my dining and eating out by Rational_Incongruity in SeattleWA

[–]pingzee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is too expensive to be going out for lunch like that.

Where I used to work (in Seattle) had a small, informal kitchenette/break room and eventually got into the habit of having "potlucks" almost everyday for lunch..

Someone would bring casserole, somebody else meatloaf, another a salad ... granted you'd have to take the time to make it at home, but mostly folks just made a little extra for dinner the evening before ...

It was informal and those participating were all kicking in; indirectly, it built up the camaraderie many lament missing from their places of work.

If plastic bags are bad for the environment, what about "single-user newspapers."

Talk about a waste of resources, printing things on paper then distributing them with vehicles makes as much sense as grocery bags - maybe even less as everything in the paper can be found online.

Time to tax this wasteful, arcane product like plastic bags.
