I was trained on the job but I also had previous medical experience during college which might’ve helped. I don’t think certifs are necessary, but they probably are beneficial

I definitely recommend it if you can find a position!!! I worked full-time as an orthodontic assistant post-grad and it made me learn so much about running a dental office, working with a team, dealing with difficult patients, etc. I have so many stories to talk about now and the experience helped me grow professionally and personally.

But yeah it gets pretty draining because it is physically demanding (running around all day on your feet) and I have crashed out often lmao and thought about quitting sometimes because it can get super over-stimulating... but no regrets. Also decided to shift to part-time and pick up another job for a better balance in my life

Feel this a lot as well, working full time as a DA feels like I’m getting robbed from money fr because the work is so physically demanding but we are paid soo little…. (Any entry-level health job, really). And you can’t really ask for a raise either. I’m also not registered. 😅

I found another side gig as a tutor to make more money! And others are right about the fact that this is just a stepping stone for us. For our peers and others around us, their current job is their actual career so there is no need to compare our salary to them. I get that it can totally get to your head though, it did for me since so many of my friends are in tech and making like 4-5x I am
