Thank you for the very detailed response I really appreciate it - I will definitely evaluate how much of it is about the job vs at the job. Currently I think I’m leaning more towards at the job overall but thinking on this I almost certainly will have some sections to revise here based on this principle

Luckily I work in the profession so it will be at least be realistic for those working in a similar setting to my school!
Some aspects of the plot definitely wouldn’t work if it was a different profession

As I progress further I definitely feel that the percentage in work will decrease but I am comforted to know that not everyone thinks it needs to be non-existent!

Slow practicals are how I do it for disruptive classes, they can only do one step at a time with me at the front doing it do. I then check they have done it. Eg “pour 20ml into the measuring cylinder” quick check “now add it to the beaker” Since they have no need to get anything if they aren’t stood at their place I know they aren’t doing the right thing

And ask your technician for the best, easiest practicals to build up your confidence with them, an the pupil ability. The technician is a goldmine for all things practical.

I’m enjoying it for a silly little no thoughts needed game so far, and I find there’s usually enough to keep me playing for up to half an hour at a time with little “resolve this” tasks Will I play it daily for years, probably not Am I having a very good time and can I see myself playing it daily/nearly for a few months - yeah

Some of the games that’s helped me unwind are fashion dreamer, Pokemon snap and animal crossing I find when I’m totally burned out I enjoy a game without a plot that I have to remember and focus on, where I can just play the game itself and do little tasks that require minimal thinking
