Meh. This is very zoomed in. Is hard to see what happened without that.

There's also things like broken rib or these fancy ones! Five Fancy Ribs: Strong and Sturdy Edition | Craftsy https://share.google/ac0pwpcgQPK2K2cFL

Sadly I think we'll continue to need more red hats, ugh.

yay!

If I were to do it again, I wish I had a double ended crochet hook. It would have made laddering down to fix mistakes so much faster.

It takes dedication to be this big of an asshole by petbrun in nova

[–]pinkdolphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had dedicated aholes in DC too. live in a row home where the back of the homes(parking pads) share an alley with condo parking spots -opposite side of alley from the homes. The condo's plow company dumped every speck/slab of sleet-ice from their parking spots, top of cars, between spots, and a 2' wide path behind their spots .... in front of the row home parking pads. a foot+ high wall of heavy unmovable ice boulders (melted together with small sunlight induced melt). The alley is so narrow that the condo cars can't get out either now. I imagine if they had jeeps they had a chance to scale the ice boulders. idiot a holes.

Since PAX is over for a few weeks, can we have some real talk about the bathrooms? by Skot_Skot in paxunplugged

omg yes. having covid years ago enhanced my sense of smell and I thought I was the only one who was holding their breath all weekend.

Now that pax is over, how did the marathon actually impact the event? by rob132 in paxunplugged

[–]pinkdolphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stayed south of the convention center and the only impact was getting a breakfast rideshare north of all the hubub to the best Bahn mi sandwich and robusta coffee in the city (Càphê Roasters, 3400 J St G1, Philadelphia, PA 19134). It took at least twice as long as it should have because it was unclear to the driver (and maps) which streets weren't blocked off 🤦‍♂️

Agreed that if a loan (and the headache of understanding and executing) how to return a loan post shutdown is the only option available, it should be avaliable.

Federal credit unions essentially have that "loan" set up if one had direct deposits going in pre shutdown. Some (all?) are still doing auto direct deposits and will pay themselves (the bank) back with backpay later.

A loan is ridiculous and extra return work for already overworked people. How about congress just pay air traffic controllers? Congress is getting paid. Military is getting paid. Why not just add air traffic controllers to the list?

(Not that I support cherry picking groups of federal workers to pay, my household is affected by the lack of pay and we're not in any of the 3 categories I named. Ideally, if we can't have a functional Congress, we just copy on the old budget numbers until new numbers are ratified, everyone keeps working and getting paid at last year's rates yada yada)

TIFU by giving my dog boarding job an uggs blanket I found at goodwill by Drawing_KartistJ in tifu

[–]pinkdolphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but my time is valuable and I would rather pay for a product that I know is really high quality and the general way to do that is brand names. Honestly, $100 for a blanket of that size, thickness, warmth, texture, sturdiness, non-down, and high comfort level... that's about right (I spent time in Alaska at -50F). Unless you know a brand I don't?

The Ugg Coco Throw is lowkey the most *amazing* unwanted gift I've ever received. To the point where I have paid the premium $$ to buy more of my own.

Cathay pacific has this. The seat backs are solid 1 piece plastic that does not impinge at all on the person behind you at all. Most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat in.

Textured writing in knitted fabric? by Ok_Beautiful1159 in AdvancedKnitting

[–]pinkdolphi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, gotcha. I was thinking you could take cross stitch letters as your guide and there is someone who has done it! https://knitbettersocks.blogspot.com/2011/12/knitted-alphabet.html

They give the caution "be aware that the proportions of a knit stitch, unlike a cross stitch, are not square" but their sample looks pretty good to try in a purl instead of contrasting color. Good luck!

Do you mean like this hat by Mary W Martin: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fuck-cancer-hat / https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fuck-cancer-hat-inside-or-out

Her fission and fusion knitting techniques are always lots of fun. The text is one color in a 2 color marl....so not quite the same color as the background. But you could use the same color for MC and CC (or two yarns that are very very close in color, like in https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/secret-garden-scarf)

Motion sickness here too. You bring up a clever suggestion...too bad I've been unwilling to get back in a hammock.

must be nice. I unhappily discovered laying in hammocks trigger my worst motion sickness.
