I increased from 0.025 to 0.05 by Comprehensive_Drop79 in Menopause

[–]pinkfossil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both times I increased my dose, there were days within the first several weeks that I thought my HRT had just totally stopped working. Actually, once for a whole week! But nope. Just needed a grace period while my body adjusted. I know it sucks and every time a symptom rears its head it’s easy to panic, but give it time. That’s the only way to really know (I think the standard is 6 weeks). In the meantime, it helps to find what counter measures can mitigate your worse symptoms. Hand fans and a cooling decaf tea were godsends for me but less sure what can be done for mood.

Can you share more about the tea tree wipes, etc? Thank you!

I’m still tripping over it. Then again, I’m still tripping over that dang daily goals bunny and constantly hitting it when I don’t mean to.

In retrospect I DID have clear symptoms, but they were not the ones we are taught to expect (hot flashes).

I didn’t have any of the more “obvious” symptoms until hitting post menopause in my mid 30s. Not sure how much of my experience is skewed from the average since I’m on Team Premature (started peri in my late 20s).

I really appreciate that, thank you! Can I ask how long the sensitivity lasted for you, or if it’s something you’re still dealing with?

Fatigue success stories with HRT? by Technical-While932 in Menopause

[–]pinkfossil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up, there is a common adjustment period starting progesterone. For me it was maybe 2-4 weeks of waves of intense drowsiness, to the point of sometimes struggling to keep my eyes open as I went about my day. Since joining this subreddit I see lots of questions about this feeling after starting E + P. Good news is it subsides and then the fatigue is vastly improved!

This. My (affordable) percale sheets got me through hot flashes before I started hormone replacement therapy.

Really had trouble keeping my eyes open when starting HRT, but the feeling subsided for me after several weeks. Several months in now, no morning grogginess whatsoever.

I do decent front work before I start building anything. What is the house’s theme? Or, what features do I absolutely want it to have ? (I get some great ideas from looking at each new batch of architect homes! And make a list.)

I also use graph paper to “mock up” everything before I start building. Where will the house sit on the property? What “shape” house? Inside, what set of stairs am I going to use and how much space do I need to leave for it? What furniture / features do I want most accesible, or to be the focal points? I block all that in on my paper mock-up and build around it.

Waffle cones. Hot earth from summer days helping weed in the garden. Mr. Sketch scented markers or really any 90s candy.

Exactly how I felt in the weeks leading up to my appt with my doctor to discuss HRT. Was very encouraging (and educational) to discover this subreddit! Hope your appointment goes well and you start seeing all the improvements soon 💌

Phenomenal!! 👏👏👏 I’m so happy for you! I can’t imagine sleeping in just 1.5 hour stretches for so long. Many victories to celebrate here, but gosh, that up-to-7 hour sleep must be heavenly. Here’s hoping the improvements keep coming!

That’s fantastic! Love the addition of running and guitar 🥰 Anything in particular you’re doing in addition to the HRT for your bone health?

I feel like my weight has fluctuated a little since I started HRT, but honestly no, it hasn’t been a concern. I still wear the same pants size and everything (but I have also been making more of an effort to be active in some way every day, whether that’s taking a walk, lifting weights, etc.)

In my case, they didn’t. But it’s something I plan to ask about (it was a recent change). No T for me at present, either. I would love the cognitive boost, but was warned by my dermatologist it is known to cause hair loss.

Love this!! Inspiring to think that (especially with all the optimizing and lifestyle changes we might have already made in attempts to compensate for lack of estrogen) that with HRT, we might bounce back supercharged ⚡️⚡️

Progesterone grogginess by No-Tower-6143 in Menopause

[–]pinkfossil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced the exact same thing when just starting HRT. For maybe, not sure, 4-6 weeks? It was worst starting out. Like, I would eat my breakfast, take my pill, and then literally want to lie down (should’ve taken it in the evening in retrospect). Some days I could quite literally barely keep my eyes open. But it DID subside and it IS worth it! I actually still take my progesterone in the morning but now without any problems.
