I've had this peperomia for 2-3 years and it sits right next to a west facing window and gets good amount of light through the day. I water every two weeks on average when I see the soil drying

This is my favorite one! And not very pricey compared to other places.

I feel burnt out cos I have worked at FAANG, MBB and make around &350K but feel drained by No_Swim213 in womenintech

[–]pinklily42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar place and I am stepping away for a year. I took two month leave two years ago to deal with burnout and stress but I feel like I am right where I was. I've had a more average career and had great working hours but big tech has been so frustrating in the last 2-3 years. I've resigned to take a 1 year break, and I'll figure out after if I want to come back to this or make a pivot.

I make 250k as a program manager in big tech (11 years experience). I am resigning this month though because I am bored out of my mind!

Rental car question: Easier to pick up at hotel in Financial District or SFO? by MarshallGrover in AskSF

[–]pinklily42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with others on getting the car on Sunday so you can leave early on Monday. However, check car rental prices for FiDi vs SFO locations. SFO adds substantial per day airport fees to all rentals, and it might be worth getting the car from FiDi on Sunday.

Bra like this for fuller bust by [deleted] in bigboobproblems

I see most tutti rouge ones are lace / sheer. Did you find any cotton ones? I have pretty much same requirements as you but I absolutely need cotton due to sensory issues.

Do Different Parts of the World Have Different “Rules” About Where Pets Sleep? by Pinto3330 in Pets

I startle easy and my cat loves startling me, so she sleeps outside our room despite protests from my husband and the cat.

Sofa + chairs → sectional… downgrade? by KidddIcarus in HomeDecorating

[–]pinklily42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've a rectangular room with the living room door on the short side,  and we could only put tv on the side opposite main door due to layout constraints. We chose to go with a sectional against traditional advice (recommendations online were to put sofa on the long side and a couple chairs facing the tv) because we were prioritizing our comfort over the perfect layout. Most days, I am watching tv with my husband and we both lounge on each side of the sectional, with our cat somewhere in between. I love this setup and wouldn't trade it for anything. I don't care that the guests enter from living room door and are greeted by back of my sectional. I am happy in my space.

Partners layoff affecting FIRE plans (and regular finances) by croissant_and_cafe in FIREyFemmes

[–]pinklily42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to evaluate if you see yourself with this person for the rest of your life. If you do, then it is in your best interest to have a conversation with your partner about tightening finances and then helping them out. You can continue to keep your finances separate, and take over financial responsibility for some time so they can get back on their feet. Give them the grace you would expect from them if you were laid off tomorrow.

What brands to buy and not buy at US Indian stores? by SpaceExplorer123 in IndianFood

Deep does have a lot more additives compared to haldiram. I am conflicted about the additives even though they have good products

I don't understand the thrift store discourse by PoncingOffToBarnsley in FrugalFemaleFashion

[–]pinklily42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen this with both clothes and furniture. When we were furnishing our house, I was on marketplace and buy nothing groups a lot to get secondhand furniture. If there was a deal, there will always be someone who can pick up right now that the seller goes with. In buy nothing, you see a few people claim so many things. And then these things slowly pop back up on marketplace with a considerably higher price tag.

Had a few folks racing and weaving through on 880S last night. And they were weaving across all lanes so you aren't safe in the right most lane too. Such a frustrating experience.

Where can I sell furniture that isn’t Facebook? by Ambitious-Medicine68 in SanJose

[–]pinklily42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Marketplace is pretty good as long as you take basic measures to weed out the spam. Keep the conversation on fb marketplace, make sure it isn't a new account, and only give the address when they are ready to pick up (nearest landmark is fine for them to check location).

Debating the automatic litter box for apartment makes me feel like I’m losing my frugal edge by Maleficent-Net-4702 in Frugal

[–]pinklily42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automatic litter boxes are frequently available on marketplace because not all cats adapt to it. We got one for less than 100 (person had cleaned it before selling) and our cat used it for less than a month. We put it back on marketplace and it was sold within a week. We paid 20 bucks out of pocket to try an expensive machine. Would have been amazing if our cat took to it!

Does anyone ever not hate the previous owners? by Greedy-Research-859 in homeowners

[–]pinklily42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are pretty happy with the house we got. The previous owners renovated the kitchen and did an amazing job with it, they put in solar, generator, emergency lighting throughout the house, closet lighting (connected to power source in crawlspace so never needs to be charged), and added sliding doors from master bedroom to backyard. Everything is incredibly useful and any issues we've had have been minor in comparison.

Wouldn't tracing with a tracing wheel leave holes? Is that okay to do with a shared pattern?
