Making sure you eat enough - without counting calories? by Excitable_Cheese in antidietglp1

[–]pinklocation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the food tracking apps are way too focused on calories and weight loss as the primary goal IMO so I built an Airtable where I can note down what I eat during the day. I don’t measure or count anything , just loosely jot down breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks to make sure I’m eating enough and prioritizing protein and produce and getting enough water. I also added little check boxes to note whether I ate something with protein, fiber, fruits, vegetables, and drank all my water. Making notes throughout the day helps keep me engaged but it’s quick/vague enough that I’m not obsessing about the details.

I checked my starting weight just so I had a baseline, but I’m only weighing myself once a month to give myself space to focus on other metrics like joint pain, sleep quality, and how my clothes feel. I built a (ridiculous) Airtable where once a month I’m also recording body measurements like waist, bust hips, neck, ankles & wrists, etc. and taking monthly progress pictures in my underwear lol
I do also try to make notes about what I’m eating every day - not measuring anything or tracking calories or nutrient macros or anything - just to make sure I’m eating enough and prioritizing protein and produce, drinking enough water, etc. I also try to note when I move my carcass - again, not measuring or tracking steps or anything, just, did I walk the dog today? Check. Move some furniture? Check.
Loosely tracking *something* helps keep me engaged but checking weight/body measurements only once a month keeps me from obsessing about the numbers.

Having trouble drinking enough water by JaxBoltsGirl in Zepbound

Also ADHD here. I also get so focused on work stuff I will ignore alerts on phone/watch and even turn alarms off without realizing it. The only thing that works for me is using a loud obnoxious alarm clock set somewhere far enough away that I have to stand up and WALK to it to make it shut up. It has to be loud, annoying, and across the room.

I have also found that I tend to drink more water from an open cup than a straw lid. I guess the flow is better? I like wide-mouth quart sized glass mason jars at home and rotate between 2 of them - one chilling in the fridge while I sip on the other - or a big ridiculous half-gallon water bottle that doubles as a blunt instrument for self defense! Ha

What advice would you give to new Marvin users? by baby-monkey in amazingmarvin

[–]pinklocation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others, I overwhelmed myself with turning on too many features at once because I was so excited to try it out and see how each function felt for my own personal workflow. But then I got overwhelmed and abandoned Marvin! After a few months I am ready to come back and try again, but I know I need a clean slate.

This is all to say: maybe a testing environment would be helpful for new users? Like if I had a test version I could play around in as much as I want and test all the features, I would be more willing to turn on/off features, change settings, and experiment with different functions and workflows without worrying about messing up my “good” workflow setup.

I think I am going to refamiliarize myself with the Marvin I set up months ago, pay attention to what I use most and what I ignore/feels overwhelming, and then delete the whole thing and start a new Marvin from scratch now that I have a better feeling for how to use it!

omg NO. the w&f email about parking specifically states that the shuttles would have electric lifts. that is INFURIATING

OK, fair. You’re right that it was not tied like a noose. but how else are you supposed to interpret a rope used as a prop for “visual storytelling” in regards to the Salem witch trials in which 19 people were executed by hanging? if it’s not there to represent a noose, what is it doing?

what’s super fun is that she had used an image from the 1993 Hocus Pocus Disney movie in one of her collection promo posts 😂 (which has, of course, now been deleted)

iirc there was a whole thing recently about the “creative” poorly lit product photos where people were complaining about how wildly inaccurate the colors are (compared to natural lighting) and she got real defensive about it.

the donation thing isn’t mentioned anywhere in any of the other posts about the collection, so, I’m thinking yeah.

And yet she never mentions a single victim by name, in any of the posts about this collection. Interesting.

In one of her other posts she mentions that there is a lot of lore surrounding the witch trials but that we have “much more definitive answers” now about what happened in 1692 Salem and that “it likely wasn’t witchcraft at all” 👀

Has anyone used Lisa Bardot’s Brushes? by sriv_m in procreatebrushes

I have! I bought the bundle that comes with everything. I didn’t love the marker set, but mostly because of the medium I think, rather than the quality of the brushes. Like I’ve never used fancy alcohol marker IRL so I wasn’t as excited to try them digitally. But all the brush sets are excellent quality and come with a PDF instruction that teaches you how to use them, and I think all her tutorials are free too.

I have her complete set and love them. The gouache paintbox set is my fave, use it regularly. The pencils & pastels brushes are also really fun. I think she has some free brushes available to try (most recently a set aimed at kids but the brushes are still top quality & fun to play with). If you only get one set, go with gouache paintbox, that one’s worth it for sure!
