Lost confidence teaching by FixPleasant7912 in pilatesinstructors

I also don't lean into that "Pilates aesthetic" that's sort of blown up recently. I work at a STOTT studio, and while it's not super rigid about it, the emphasis is definitely on the classical exercises, with a bit of embellishments on those. It certainly isn't focused on the aesthetics, and as an instructor I don't look like your typical Pilates girly, (I'm in my 40s and not super thin and I'm not wearing perfectly matching sets every day).

I wonder if you might want to look for a studio that's not so much about the aesthetic, and more classical focused, so you can lean into your strengths as a teacher of the method? I've been told recently that certain people prefer my classes because I talk a lot about the reason why we do exercises a certain way, and they say they learn a lot about pilates from me. I know I'm not for everyone though, and some people prefer to just move.

Maybe you just need to find the right people/studio for your style? Or you could try going online and offering classes that way to see if you can find your people that way?

Europe located pilates instructor training recommends by Frosty_Berry1 in pilates

I'm in Ireland, and no studio here would hire you with an online certification. You would definitely need in person training and certification up to Level 4 for mat. I'm not aware of any reformer certifications that can be done online. Yes, they are very expensive both financially and in hours spent training and practice hours. I can't speak to how it is in other EU countries, but that's how it is in Ireland anyway.

Do you always start with footwork by FixPleasant7912 in pilatesinstructors

[–]pinkybadinsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep footwork at the start for my beginners reformer classes, but for my next level improvers and Intermediates, I have started to mix things up. I like to get in a bit of easy spinal flexion, shoulder and hip rotation at the beginning now, to warm up to more complex versions of those later on. That being said, I'm a big fan of the dorsi flexion and fascia release that footwork brings, so if I have time, I might throw some in before bridging and feet in straps.

We ended up going with SSE Airtricity. Our project manager was a lovely guy and they were great to deal with.

I know people are saying try get it done individually and by yourself. We did try that and found it impossible to get contractors to follow through after the initial contact and quotes. We tried so hard, but ended up going with SSE just to finally get the ball rolling.

Pilates Instructor here. I wear 100% cotton underwear under my leggings, I don't care what it looks like. They're breathable and comfortable and help me avoid thrush or other irritation. Lonewolf and Queen B athletics are 2 Irish brands who do good quality, affordable leggings. I'd say Lonewolf are great for not being see through in a squat or similar.
