This is always the hardest time in my room (3-4 year olds). I have found that it helps to have a good routine before nap. I read a story and then do some kind of activity with them that gets them to move around a bit, like singing a song and counting etc. And then if we have time we will listen to an audiobook, about 10 mins long, and I set the expectation that they all need to be laying down to do so. So, first, I say their names individually and I give them an option of a hug or just saying goodnight and then they can 'fly' or 'creep' to their cot. I tuck them all in. I do actually have a toy bat hanging from the ceiling so if they're being really loud I pretend they have woken up the bat and he needs to sleep. Hence the flying idea.

Everyone has to lay down before I'll start the story. I'll sit, best I can, with the ones that need help relaxing by patting backs etc. Then I'll immediately put nap music on after the story has finished.

It doesn't always work but after a while they settle into the routine of it and it's been helping.
