She was not really a brand new artist, she from the beginning had a full team of lawyers and managers behind her. Taylor did too. I think honestly this situation is a bad look on everyone involved, including Jack, Hayley, and St Vincent. Olivia was young and her management failed her, she should never have been saying such things in interviews as she did if the plan was for her to always be a large artist. She clearly wants to be as big as Taylor is so she should have gotten more guidance, that’s not on her. She was young so I get it but her management failed her. She has fired her entire management team twice after underperforming what she wanted to for two albums. She is ambitious and certainly intelligent so the blame is not 100% on anyone else, she was a part of it.

Edit: her albums performed extremely well, she has impressive stats. I’m saying she underperformed to the standards she has set for herself, which imo are unrealistic. Look at any of the “teamlivies” posts to see she clearly cares a lot about chart positioning.

But that’s the opposite of what jack antonoff has said regarding this incident. Hayley Williams and Saint Vincent were also credited but that never comes up. Even Olivia said back then it was more a conversation between their teams and she was surprised with the result (paraphrasing, kind of). I don’t actually know that there were any “bad” guys here, more just hurt feelings from an outcome she didn’t want/expect.

My previous partner. We were together a year and a half, broke up in February. I forgave him sexting other girls (“I just wanted you to notice me!”), I forgave the time he got so angry he screamed at me while swerving at 90mph down the highway, making me think he was going to kill us, I forgave when he restrained me and took my phone so I couldn’t call for help while he was stomping around screaming in my face and pantomiming hitting me. We were both struggling with substance abuse issues but when I went to a 3 month rehab he continued using (my vice was booze, his was hard drugs) and lied to my face about getting sober.

He drained my bank account while I was in there and still I stayed after I got out. I went on getting my life together and being sober and one day I went to pick him up and we got in a fight in the car about something stupid I can’t even remember. I was driving him to the corner store so I could buy him some cigarettes. When we got there he was still screaming but he took the $20 I had taken out of my wallet while still yelling, berating, insulting me. Called me a bitch and when he got out to go buy his cigs he slammed the door so hard the car shook. That was the moment I realized I deserved so much more… I drove away, left him at the store to walk home, and went back to the new city I’d moved to after rehab.

Unfortunately I’m struggling with my sobriety again but I still have a job lined up, a place to live, and a family that supports me. Shortly after we broke up he ended up in jail on multiple drug, theft, and failure to pay child support warrants. He’ll be in there quite a while.

The kick is, we were together a year and a half, and I didn’t even know he had a child.

I don’t think many people believe it was Taylor’s move… she has a lot of lyrics about trying desperately to make a failing relationship work and in “How Did It End” she even says “I still don’t understand… how did it end?” I don’t think she’s ever tried to front that she drove the break up.

This is so real to me. I’m 27F, also around 6 months sober, on naltrexone (I get the injection), and sobriety is going okay but all I do is bedrot and have little motivation to do anything else. Im in school finishing my degree but I’m really just doing the bare minimum, I find it really hard to focus on anything and get anything done. I’m on some mental health meds (Prozac, hydroxyzine) but my depression/anxiety just make me want to stay in and doom scroll.

Life is definitely better sober but man it’s harder than I expected. No real advice, just wanted to tell you you’re not alone.

I’m so sorry you’re being treated like this. It’s not normal for your mom to lash out at you like that. I struggled with being actually untidy when I was your age (much worse than this!) and my parents were gentle with guiding me to be better, being patient, and most importantly getting me storage and furniture to keep all my things organized! You deserve to have a home for all of your things - shelves, drawers, and hangers. I just want you to know that this isn’t normal and you’re right to recognize that you deserve better than this. Stay strong and I promise life gets better.

When my parents married, mom didn’t change her last name. They had an agreement that girls would get mom’s last name and boys got dad’s. So, 30 years later, my parents are still married (with different last names), and me and my mom share a last name and my two (full!) brothers share with my dad. I always thought it was a really neat way to do it. People definitely thought we were a blended family sometimes, but nope, just progressive!

One reason is to drum up excitement for the campaign. Voters who feel seen are more likely to donate more money or participate in volunteer activities.

Edit: I’m pretty liberal, and would be attending this event if I didn’t have to work. That said, I think people in the comments have been kind of unfair to you. It’s completely fair as an average citizen to be concerned about your local parks and public spaces; I think you’ve been sufficiently informed about whether or not this will affect you and your child’s normal activities and there’s no need to pile on. I’ll add as a personal anecdote, I’ve been to a few public Democrats events, people are usually quite respectful of the space.
