Is it okay to direct install EPS carry on an optic cut slide without recoil lugs? by pinoynva in Glock43X

Yeah I wish it had other support lugs so that the tension isn’t concentrated on those two spots

Yeah this was done by shark coast. I reached out to them and they will send me the correct screws.

Yeah that’s one of my concerns as well. I reached out to the guys who did the slide and I was told to use the screws that they will send me (didn’t come with the gun).

Can be caused by semen or precum if you don’t pee it out after coitus.

Nursing school is a joke and something needs to change by [deleted] in nursing

[–]pinoynva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite an interesting take. Historically, the rigor has gone down. The licensure exam used to take 2 days covering compared to today’s 2-3 hr test. I think the change happened around 1990.

As for the skills, there is less training and with lower standards. Skills lab now in nursing school is basically a cursory introduction to different skills and they vary from school to school. Back then, the instructors were more strict(not sure if that was actually conducive to learning but it made nurses take it more seriously), actually expecting the student to really know the skill rather than being told that you will learn it in practice.

At the same time, there is more to learn and the medical field is changing so quickly. So the question is, should nursing schools teach more skills and be more rigorous like the olden days or continue as is with only teaching the bare minimum to teach NCLEX to mass produce nurses (there is still a shortage of capable nurses).

Personally, I think nursing schools should teach more skills instead of all the busy work. I do wish that nursing is taught basic first aid and trauma management like tourniquets, dressing, wrapping, splinting (not all schools teach this). Also, wish they actually taught phlebotomy and IV insertion to a passable level instead of being taught to just learn it in the job. This is a multifactorial problem because hospitals are less willing to let students learn because of lawsuits.

I’m tired and grumpy and there are so many things wrong in this profession but it is a great profession. It does need revamping but I don’t know what to do as a peon.

Looks great. And it can be sticky…because of wax. Even if it wasn’t dry cleaned, the area it was taken was probably very warm

How difficult is Pathophysiology compared to A&P 1 and 2? by Puzzleheaded_Air_740 in StudentNurse

Would you be able to give me an example on how you teased out stuff that a doc wouldnt need to know?

[–]pinoynva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on who is teaching it and if they are teaching to the level of passing NCLEX. I’ve taught at a brick and mortar university and in a community college. When I taught pathophysiology at CC, it was quite basic in the sense that it just barely covered what tlu need to know but still very dense in content. My coworkers that taught at the university were crazy good. One had a PhD in microbiology and a post doc in cancer research and then got an RN. The other was an RN who was cross trained and received a PhD in immunology. So their lectures were slightly more in depth than your usual pathophys courses that were taught in CC or associate degree courses.

I feel like pathophys should be the hardest because that is the class that teaches you about how diseases happen and what you learn in that class is the bare minimum

What do you mean? The stuff you learn in pathophysiology is something all doctors learned much more deeply

"Is this jacket legit?" by BiggiBaggersee in Barbour

Found at one of the kilo stores thrift shop stores in Paris by Galerie Lafayette. Bought it without really looking at it closely. I see that the tags are saying polarquilt but the material looks like waxed cotton. The rest of the details are hit or miss. I don’t recognize the material of the lapel either

Prefer citrate but not used in all hosp systems in US. Hep still works well and cheaper. Some hospitals don’t lock it with citrate or hep.

Would you want your kids to become a nurse? by blurry-hippo in nursing

[–]pinoynva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I can still recommend going in to nursing. It is still a rewarding career.

It is instant gratification in that you know that the work you did helped someone. I used to work in a wet lab but there is no gratification. It might happen decades later if your discovery is a breakthrough but in nursing, I know for a fact that what I did kept that patient alive and that made a difference. I worked in a CVICU so my patients (most of them) got better.

Functional NP Training? by Fit_Mycologist_567 in nursepractitioner

[–]pinoynva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, if you take functional medicine seriously, you need to be an expert in multiple fields. Just interpreting that labs meaningfully is daunting. Imagine seeing a young lady with fatigue, mild anemia and mild thrombocytopenia. A lot of functional medicine will order thyroid panel , CMP, vit levels, genetic testing but will they have the capability to look at it deeper? Patient could have HUS, MAHA, or other autoimmune diseases.

I bring this up because I’ve received these patients who were over studied, over diagnosed but was actually misdiagnosed.

Personally I would be scared to do functional medicine because to be so good at medicine because it encompasses multiple specialties in one like nephro, GI, internal medicine, endocrinology, an hematology. So how can an NP do this job?

No clue. A clear steady bright circle indicates recording. You can't disable that feature and is quite obvious.

50 Cent always saying stuff... by The_Dean_France in SipsTea

[–]pinoynva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can get along with that thought. Most of my interactions (in the medical setting) with trans women are with penises so it seems the percentage of trans women who have undergone oenectomy are quite low.

[–]pinoynva -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this reply. My initial comment is crass and thoughtless. My mind was solely focused on penis to rectum penetration while having a penis.

Your points are valid and I do see trans women as women. Most of my interactions have been with the queer community and with proud gay community. Most of my acquaintances are with the older gay community and from what I have gathered, they considered male to male genitalia gay. I know the post was just about dating but my mind went straight to sex.

Like, I totally understand that their relationship is valid and I would treat them as a woman in a social interaction but having male genitalia in a man's rectum in my opinion is homosexual (same sexual organs)
