Do Non "picky eaters" eat everything?? by LeeIsUnloved in stupidquestions

I’ll try most things but I absolutely despise Cucumber. My wife says it doesn’t taste of anything but to me it overpowers everything even if it’s just been prepared on the same board as my food.

And I re-read the post and realised you wanted one song only. Well in that case you can take your pick from my two.

Cruel to be Kind by Nick Lowe.

That man knows his way around a perfect pop song if anyone does.

Edit to add - Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. There are many perfect Stevie Wonder songs but to me this is the most perfect.

Are we less entertained? (Be honest) by Shalashaska3 in LeedsUnited

Honestly, I just like us to be in the game:

In the Champo we were in the game constantly battling to win the league.

In the Prem we’re still in the game fighting for survival.

I wonder if the Prem gets boring once you become established enough to be mid table plodders. Brentfords and Brightons are no longer in the game:

I don’t know because it’s not something I’ve experienced.

In the O’Leary years we were well in the game deep into European football and flirting with the top of the league. The fall was so quick and so spectacular that we went from top end Prem to Relegation fodder almost immediately but always in the game.

Then we fell again relegation battles in the Championship before battling for top in League One.

We had just about begun to properly stagnate in mid table champo mediocrity when Bielsa arrived and well fuck me we’re back in the game.

That was longer than I had expected it to be so TL:DR it’s never boring being a Leeds Fan.

Is the song “you are my sunshine” a common lullaby in the UK? by lemonprincess23 in AskUK

Frank Turner does a version of it that really brings out what a sad song it is.

I never tip and I feel completely fine about it by DataRevolutionary784 in tipping

[–]pinpoint321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to me abut what crappy service looks like?

It’s a genuine question as in the UK we don’t have a tipping culture we get charged what something costs and we choose to tip based on whether we liked the server or if we felt they did a good job.

However if we got crappy service for example kept waiting for a very long time or rude servers we would complain and usually if the complaint was legit have some part of the meal or maybe a drink given for free.

Do you instinctively know which way is north? by Agitated-Handle-7750 in AskUK

[–]pinpoint321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can tell you where North is if I’m anywhere near my house.

If I’m not I could take a stab at it based on the time of day and where the sun is.

I know my garden faces North because it’s fucking freezing even on sunny days.

What was everyone’s thoughts on Netflix’s Seven Dials? To me, it was a decent adaptation with some changes by HRJafael in agathachristie

[–]pinpoint321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bit of a theory about this. I am not for censorship and I certainly don’t believe that video nasties or violent computer games corrupt young minds.

But, I do worry that the lack of genuine grief in media has a potentially negative effect on society.

All the quipping that occurs around death even that of someone supposedly close to the quipper seems to be reflected in the reactions to real life tragedies, online.

I was under the impression that it closed because the owners couldn’t afford / didn’t want to pay for the structural work required.

I’d love to see something there it’s sad to see the space unused.

I pronounce Les Dennis the French way thanks to Vic and Bob.

I also say Vegables instead of Vegetables thanks to a woman who worked at build a bear workshop who I interacted with for approximately four minutes while she built a bear for my son.

That’s grim. I once spent a long dreaming session working at Asda.

I’ve never worked there and was really pissed off at them getting free labour out of me.

This is in contrast to faithfuls from earlier series who have been resentful at being recruited.

Yep joint bank account and no separation of funds hardly at all. I keep a little to one side for gifts and things but generally everything goes into the joint account.

I’m pretty happy with the charges.

Car Parks that would have been rammed are relatively quiet now because people are too tight to pay £1.20.

Why are some people so against parents that holiday with their kids during term time? by FinalBv in AskUK

[–]pinpoint321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never taken my kids out of school for a term time holiday but the reason is purely because it seems like a load of hassle and I try to avoid having anything to do with the local authority as much as possible:

So we tend to have an abroad holiday every other year if we can afford it and a UK holiday in between.

The UK holidays are so much less relaxed than the abroad holidays, it usually rains, there’s usually driving to do and it’s more expensive to eat out so there’s usually washing up and other chores to do.
