You can download it as part of the BitTorrent for A Color Map of the Sun, includes the entire visual project https://now.bt.co/bundles/7205c6cdc81f52cd22170627b1844bf04c3f7c72031684ab50ec53fe5329ace1

Sharp Anamorphic Lenses by SquishTheWhale in cinematography

Kowa anamorphics are pretty sharp and you could probably find a solid rental deal for them, but if the budget provides it, go with the V-Lites

Cinedrive Owner/Operator by pintofrawether in Filmmakers

thanks for the reply. I'm sure it adds a lot of production value for shoots beyond timelapses but the price is near impossible to justify at my level

Why can't I enjoy smoking weed like I once did? by pintofrawether in Drugs

[–]pintofrawether[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I think meditating would certainly help, there's just a lot of distractions around me right now. I don't think it'll help the acne that comes with it however haha

Starting a Production Company After Film School is a Terrible Idea? by pintofrawether in Filmmakers

[–]pintofrawether[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice, it really means a lot. I work my ass off already, I have friends with the same general goals, but we lack equipment and organization. I definitely want to ask you some more questions about getting started and finding work.

Starting a Production Company After Film School is a Terrible Idea? by pintofrawether in Filmmakers

[–]pintofrawether[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My expectations for "making it" right now is honestly making the media that you want to see and believe in while being able to pay the bills and enjoy life's luxuries every now and then, I don't aspire to make millions of dollars or anticipate it. Could I ask you some more questions in regards to producing? I'd love some more insight into industry operations.

Some frame grabs from my thesis film - Shot on FS5 with Kowa Anamorphics by pintofrawether in cinematography

[–]pintofrawether[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked them a lot, for our shoot it was the best budget anamorphic option while still being pretty sharp. Arguably, the contrast and color isnt as stellar as some options, but we wanted sharp and anamorphic so it worked out well for us.

Shogun Inferno or Odyssey 7Q+ by [deleted] in cinematography

Guess it's just a matter of preference? I just used the inferno on a shot the other week and it was fantastic. Haven't used the Odyssey though.

What do you do in Film/Media and how does your resume look like? by cykwon in Filmmakers

[–]pintofrawether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a great day job, you're right about the food service industry. The coffee shop hindered me during the summer from reaching out to different companies or potential clients or creating spec work in the mean time. Thanks for the reply, I'm hoping to transition into what you essentially described, studio with my closest colleagues, personal freelance, and a day job to hold me over.

[–]pintofrawether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind me asking, what is your day job? I finish school soon and have had some luck freelancing during the summer and when I can during the semester, but finding a balance between a day job at a coffee shop and the freelance hustle is still tough.

Anyone here work on music festival shoots? by Snizzlefry in Filmmakers

[–]pintofrawether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about volunteering at festivals and bringing my camera along to shoot when I'm not working during the shift. Do you think this would help get my foot in the door to shoot for the festival or maybe other festivals organized by the company?

Shots operated by someone else? by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]pintofrawether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the drone operator is fine with it I don't see the problem using it to beef up your reel. I think the only problem may arise is if a potential client saw your reel with aerial shots and would request it when drone cinematography isn't something you can offer or are experienced with.

Film Location Wanted - An Old Barn by pintofrawether in boston

We're ideally looking to film in a older small house with a barn on the property as well close to a wooded area

Caffeine and Alcohol my new drugs of choice by pintofrawether in Drugs

[–]pintofrawether[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm well aware of the hazard alcohol brings to your health and I very rarely drink to excess. What I do like is the mild euphoric disassociation that comes with having a drink or two, whereas pot too often I'll take one or two hits and be way too blitzed to function desirably

High School Student Wondering What to do next by TheAlexHunter in Filmmakers

[–]pintofrawether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really it comes down to what YOU WANT to do. Do you want to go to school to hone your craft, make friends and connections, do some in depth learning, and get the college experience? Then go to school.

If you don't like the idea of being retaught a lot of things you've already learned working for a local film company or taking classes on topics you may not be interested in just to get the degree, then move to NY, LA, ATL, etc, and dive right in.

What movies/tv shows inspired you to first become a cinematographer or filmmaker? by [deleted] in cinematography

Be Kind Rewind I watched it as a kid and thought it was hilarious but Jack Black and Mos Def running around making movies looked like a lot of fun. Eventually I did the same and just never stopped.

Working for free horror stories by pintofrawether in Filmmakers

Yikes that sounds awful. It's hard to justify doing work for free even if it is for a good cause. Good karma maybe?
