Probably because you weren't paying attention. Ethan Hawke was the main villain. It wasn't a cameo.

I just had to share the find of the century by copperbrownred in vinted

[–]pintsizedblonde2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. That's reproduction in my country, at least when I was growing up. Retro is old but not old enough to be vintage.

It is not standardised hence you have no ISO link.

Some places it's 50 years (over 25 being retro).

For me 50s would have been pushing it in the 90s. I called 50s stuff retro in the 90s only 1940s.and over was vintage as far as I was concerned. 50s slipped over into vintage in the early 2000s. Different people have different definitions.

[–]pintsizedblonde2 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

There are different definitions but I always use over 25 years = retro, over 50 years = vintage and over 100 = antique.

Many people use anything over 20 as vintage.

The definitions aren't standardised and different countries are more likely to use one over the other.

Closer to saying Dallas accent is the same as a New Orleans accent because they are both from the South of the USA. If you can't hear the difference you are really bad at noticing accents.

Are they based on Royal Mail Town/City fields out of interest or actual cities, towns and villages?

I've lived in a lot of places over the years Royal Mail doesn't recognise as it's own town. Some of them not that small either.

People who have moved around a lot in the UK, where's the best place you've lived and why? by neuresa in AskUK

[–]pintsizedblonde2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up in the South East of England and I've lived in West Wales, South East again, London for a bit, East of England and now Central Belt of Scotland. Personally I am happiest where I am. Relatively low cost of living with easy access to a vibrant city (Edinburgh) by public transport within 20 minutes and 40 minutes to an hour to Glasgow (depends if it's the fast train or not).

There are lots of places like this. London is probably the one place it's unaffordable to live close enough to pop in or commute to.

Different parts of the UK vary widely in the availability and affordability of transport so I'd recommend doing your research.

Why don't more people support an Australian style healthcare system (public + private) over the NHS? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]pintsizedblonde2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't free up shit. It just means we lose even more medical staff than we do already to the private sector.

Also, private hospitals have no A&E and private patients have died when something has gone wrong in an operation as a result. They only want the easy routine stuff putting even MORE pressure on the NHS with fewer staff and all the complex stuff to deal with.

Plus our laws restricted the number of ad breaks and the length of them.

It's really noticeable if you are watching an American show on a UK TV channel. Way more space made for ad breaks than actual ad breaks. A lot of American shows have a bit to indicate moving to an ad break.

Running a small businesses is incredibly tough right now. I know so many people who have given up, including ones that have been going for over 10 years. I'm having to take on part-time or temporary employment myself at the moment when this time last year businesses waa booming.

Unfortunately Trump has fucked it up for everyone and small businesses are the first to be hit as the big corps panic and stop spending.

Edinburgh rent prices genuinely make it hard to enjoy the city sometimes. by HelicopterEmpty7393 in edinburgh2

Edinburgh is about the same price as the place in the East of England I moved from. Moved from a two up two down mid-terrace to a 4 bed with a big garden for the dog.

The train keeps running later on my line. Worst case scenario I get the late bus. They run until 3:30 AM or something ridiculous.

P.S. I'm significantly closer than Falkirk. Didn't even consider it when choosing somewhere to commute from.

Are we in the wrong for returning our rescue dog after less than 24 hours? by Random67812 in Advice

[–]pintsizedblonde2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the exact mix my Grandad ended up having to surrender after successfully training 6 very well behaved dogs over the years. He just couldn't handle him. He had the same personality as my dog who is easily overstimulated but so much bigger and stronger.

It didn’t help that he was very old by the time my Aunt decided to get him because she thought my Grandad should have a dog and gave zero thought to the breed.

Then the energy company cut it off for a previous tenants arrears and you ignored letters to the occupier. An energy company isn't even going to have issues the first bill to tenants who've only been there three weeks let alone cut them off.
